NFL Playoff Picture: 4 Teams with the Strongest Title Shots
Now that we're getting a more clear NFL playoff picture, it's the appropriate time to begin examining which teams have the strongest title shots.
To keep things fair, I've outlined two clubs from each division that are in position and have the ideal make up to win the Super Bowl.
Here are the teams and the reasons why I selected them.
Green Bay Packers
1 of 4Obviously, the 13-0, defending Super Bowl champions make the list.
Aaron Rodgers has made the Packers the most vertically dangerous passing team in the NFL and isn't afraid to make any throw.
He is the master distributor of the football which doesn't allow opposing defenses to hone in on one, specific "go-to" pass-catcher.
That's what makes Green Bay so hard to stop.
The defense gives up a great deal of yardage, but as usual, consistently creates turnovers and currently, leads the league with a whopping 27 interceptions.
There's some worry that they'll struggle in a cold weather game at Lambeau, but I've realized, if the Packers' offense can't operate efficiently in those conditions, what team's offense would?
In all fairness, the running game has to be there if and when the Packers need it.
New Orleans Saints
2 of 4Getting that No. 2 seed is huge for the Saints.
The extra week off doesn't really matter.
It's the fact that if they hop the 49ers, they'll host a playoff game in the highlight manufacturing plant also known as the Superdome and most likely travel to to Green Bay for the NFC Championship.
Having to go to San Francisco doesn't bode well for them.
Still, I like their Super Bowl chances much better than the 49ers.
Patrick Willis' injury is a major blow to San Fran's chances, and although Alex Smith will likely win the NFL Comeback Player of the Year, I don't know if I can trust him in a critical, postseason situation.
Now Drew Brees, he's someone that has all my trust.
Don't forget about their eighth ranked running game and that little terror, Darren Sproles.
Baltimore Ravens
3 of 4If the Ravens are willing to lean on their clear-cut MVP Ray Rice, they've got a fantastic shot to win the Super Bowl.
The "aging" defense is still among the league's best, the wide receivers are good enough, and the quarterback has performed admirably during his time in the postseason in the past.
However, Joe Flacco isn't Tom Brady, Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers.
The Ravens must be a run-first, win-with-defense type team.
Give Rice 20 or more carries and feature him in the screen game and I like the Ravens' chances to beat just about anyone.
Pittsburgh Steelers
4 of 4The status of Ben Roethlisberger's ankle is the determining factor in Pittsburgh's run at another Super Bowl.
He's so tough, so improvisational and has so much playoff experience that there's not really another guy I trust more with the game on the line in January.
The defense is typical for Steelers standards—ferocious and aggressive, yet disciplined.
Rashard Mendenhall has the look and bruising running style of a playoff back and there's track speed in the receiving corp.
Another Steelers' club primed for a deep journey into the postseason.
