2012 NFL Mock Draft: Which Players Will Raise Stock in Bowl Games?

Ryan RudnanskyDec 13, 2011

Bowl-game season is the last chance for top prospects to show NFL scouts what they have on the field before declaring for the draft and entering the combine.

So far, we've seen several players rise and fall this season, but what they do when it matters most will be watched very carefully by NFL teams.

Here are some players who are bound to raise their stock in bowl games this season, complete with a full 2012 mock draft at the end.

4. Kendall Wright, WR, Baylor

It took a little while for Baylor's Kendall Wright to get noticed, given he plays on the same team as Heisman winner Robert Griffin III, but he's beginning to draw comparisons to Philadelphia Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson based on his explosiveness and speed.

If you're looking for someone to stretch the field, Wright is your guy. He's caught 101 balls for 1,572 yards and 13 touchdowns this season, averaging 15.6 yards per catch.

Wright is a legitimate first-round prospect now, and he's going to get a shot to do some damage against Washington in the Alamo Bowl.

3. Cordy Glenn, G/T, Georgia

Cordy Glenn is one of my biggest risers this season.

Not only does he have the strength to be a guard in the NFL, he has surprising quickness and lateral movement for a 330-pounder, which could also make him a nice addition at tackle.

Part of the reason Georgia's offense has been explosive this season is because of the protection and running lanes Glenn has provided.

Expect him to stand out against Michigan State in the Outback Bowl.

2. Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska

Alfonzo Dennard was seen as a potential first-rounder coming into this season, but he hit a snag earlier in the season, particularly against Wisconsin receiver Nick Toon.

At the time, I projected him to be a bust in the NFL because his heart didn't seem to be in it.

Well, now he's back. He's had some big performances lately, showing the aggressiveness needed to be a shutdown cornerback, and his press coverage, combined with his elite leaping ability, could make him a special player in the NFL.

Expect him to continue his surge against South Carolina in the Capital One Bowl. I don't expect him to stop the Gamecocks' standout receiver Alshon Jeffery if Jeffery plays, but I do think he will limit him. This is a huge game for Dennard to prove he can play with the big boys.

1. Robert Griffin III, QB, Baylor

Robert Griffin III is already very high on my big board, displaying the arm strength, accuracy and pocket presence to be a star in the NFL.

But the Heisman winner still has some work to do against Washington in the Alamo Bowl.

He's already passed for nearly 4,000 yards and 36 touchdowns to six interception, while rushing for 644 yards and nine touchdowns.

He's also exhibited the ability to rise to the occasion, particularly against then-No. 5 Oklahoma on Nov. 19, and he'll do it again in the Alamo Bowl.
