NFL Power Rankings Week 15: Playoff Odds for Every Team

James TateDec 12, 2011

Another week of the 2011 NFL season is in the books, and the Packers are still undefeated.

They are one of only two teams that have clinched a playoff spot, and it looks like they will be the third team in the history of the league to make it through the season without a loss.

Click through to see where each team ranks this week and their odds of making the playoffs.

32. The Indianapolis Colts

1 of 32

Another week and another loss for the Colts, but at least they are keeping their games relatively close now.  They were getting blown out on a weekly basis earlier this season.

The Colts' Week 17 game in Jacksonville is the only hope they have for a win this season, but wouldn't it be more fun at this point to go 0-16?

COLTS' PLAYOFF ODDS: Nonexistent

31. The St. Louis Rams

2 of 32

The Rams are a bad football team that's going to end the season with two wins because there's not a game left on their schedule that they can win.

Odds are the Rams will be looking for a new coach this offseason.  It's hard to see Steve Spagnuolo surviving after the way this team has gone in the tank this year.

At least they'll have a really good draft pick.

RAMS' PLAYOFF ODDS: Long gone

30. The Washington Redskins

3 of 32

The Redskins kept things close yesterday against the Patriots before falling 34-27.

Washington has a tough one this week with the Giants, but they could win their last two against the Vikings and Eagles.  Of course, it might be better for them to lose those so they have a better chance at getting a quarterback who can actually play in the NFL.

REDSKINS PLAYOFF ODDS: Nope

29. The Cleveland Browns

4 of 32

The Browns kicked off the brutal final month of their schedule with a 14-3 loss to the Steelers.

They travel to Arizona this week before ending the season with the Ravens and Steelers. They are not going to win any of those games.

They need a lot of help on offense and should be able to get a stud with their first-round pick.

BROWNS' PLAYOFF ODDS: Off the board

28. The Minnesota Vikings

5 of 32

The Vikings pushed the Lions all the way up to the end but fell short.

The Vikings are going to have a really high pick in the 2012 draft.  If they can add a playmaking wide receiver, their offense will be dangerous.

They will lose to the Saints this week, but they could end the season with wins against the Redskins and Bears.

VIKINGS' PLAYOFF ODDS: 2012 is the goal

27. The Jacksonville Jaguars

6 of 32

The Jaguars got a four-touchdown performance from Maurice Jones-Drew in their route of the Buccaneers.

They have to go on the road the next couple of weeks against the Falcons and Titans but end the season with an easy matchup against the Colts.

It's going to be an interesting offseason for the Jaguars.  They are going to have to try to find a coach who believes in Blaine Gabbert.  That's a tough sell.

JAGUARS' PLAYOFF ODDS: Longer than Gabbert's hair

26. The Kansas City Chiefs

7 of 32

It's amazing what a difference a season makes.  Last year, the Chiefs won the AFC South.  This year, they fired their coach before the season is over.

Their season pretty much ended when Jamaal Charles was injured, but there's still some talent on this team.  They should not have any trouble finding a coach that wants to be there.

CHIEFS' PLAYOFF ODDS: Gone like Todd Haley

25. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers

8 of 32

Speaking of what a difference a year makes, you have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  Last season, Raheem Morris was a candidate for coach of the year.  This season, he's on the hot seat.

There's a really good chance they lose all three of their remaining games against the Cowboys, Panthers and Falcons.  Losing out would probably be enough to get Morris fired.

BUCCANEERS' PLAYOFF ODDS: Zero

24. The Miami Dolphins

9 of 32

It is going to be an interesting finish to the season for the Dolphins.  They have winnable games against the Dolphins and Jets and a game they will not win against the Patriots.

Tony Sparano has been relieved of his duties today.  There was a point in the season where it looked like he was going to retain his job, but the last couple of weeks were the final nail.

DOLPHINS' PLAYOFF ODDS: Off the board

23. The Carolina Panthers

10 of 32

The Panthers have had quite a few games slip away late this season.  That happened to them again on Sunday when they blew a second-half lead against the Falcons.

They really only have one game left on their schedule that they can win because their final three are against Houston, Tampa Bay and New Orleans.

The Panthers probably end the season 5-11, but they have to feel a lot better about their franchise than they did at the same time a year ago.

PANTHERS' PLAYOFF ODDS: Gone, but the future is bright

22. The Arizona Cardinals

11 of 32

Is John Skelton a better quarterback than Kevin Kolb?  There have to be some people that are quietly asking that question today at Cardinals' headquarters.

Arizona has quietly won three in a row to get them to 6-7 on the season.  They have a good chance to end the season at 8-8 when you look at their remaining schedule.

That would not be good enough to get them in the playoffs, but it would give them some positive momentum heading into next season.

CARDINALS' PLAYOFF ODDS: .34 percent

21. The Buffalo Bills

12 of 32

It seems like years ago that the Bills started off the season 5-2.  Now, they have lost six in a row, and Chan Gailey's job could be in jeopardy.

At this point, their best hope is to get hot and end the season on a positive note because they are not making the playoffs.  What a heartbreaking season for a team that has not been to the playoffs since they lost on the Music City Miracle.

BILLS' PLAYOFF ODDS: Nada

20. The Philadelphia Eagles

13 of 32

It really looks like the rest of the season for the Eagles is all about Andy Reid's job because they sure are not making the playoffs.  That got that off to a good start this week by stomping the Dolphins.

Two of their final three games are against playoff contenders.  You never know what's going to happen with this team.  They are good enough that they could win all three.  They are also inconsistent enough to lose all three.

EAGLES' PLAYOFF ODDS: As good as Vince Young making a start without throwing a pick

19. The Seattle Seahawks

14 of 32

The Seahawks are still in the hunt for a playoff spot.  It would take them winning the rest of their games and a small miracle, but there's still hope.

Their toughest remaining challenge will come Week 16 when the 49ers come to town.  If nothing else, they will have some positive momentum heading into the 2012 season.

SEAHAWKS' PLAYOFF ODDS: six percent

18. The Chicago Bears

15 of 32

The Bears are watching a once promising season slip away because of injuries.  There are very few teams that could sustain the loss of their starting quarterback and running back.

Chicago is very much in the mix for a wild-card spot.  There's no way they are winning the game against the Packers in two weeks, but they could beat the Seahawks and Vikings to make things interesting.  Wins in those two games would get them to 9-7.

BEARS' PLAYOFF ODDS: 12 percent

17. The Oakland Raiders

16 of 32

That trade for Carson Palmer is looking worse by the moment.  He threw four picks yesterday in route to getting hammered by the Packers.

They are still in the mix for the AFC West crown, but they are going to need to get things back on track in a hurry.  They have a tough one against the Lions this week but have very winnable games with the Chiefs and Chargers at the end of the season.

RAIDERS' PLAYOFF ODDS: 22 percent

16. The Dallas Cowboys

17 of 32

Things are going to be interesting in Dallas down the stretch.  They still have a good shot at winning the division, but heads are going to roll if they do not.

They have a game they should win this week against the Buccaneers.  They have the Eagles after that before ending the season in New York to take on the Giants.  They probably need at least two of those three to have a chance.

COWBOYS' PLAYOFF ODDS: 50/50

15. The San Diego Chargers

18 of 32

Don't look now, but the Chargers are have crept back into the AFC West.  They are a game behind the Raiders and two behind the Broncos with three to play.

If San Diego is going to win the division, they cannot afford another loss.  That's going to be tough with their remaining games against the Ravens, Lions and Raiders.  Odds are this run has happened a little too late.

CHARGERS' PLAYOFF ODDS: Not good, but better than they were a month ago

14. The Tennessee Titans

19 of 32

The Titans came up just short of pulling off a huge upset against the Saints on Sunday.

Tennessee has a pretty soft schedule left.  They have games against the Colts and Jaguars before heading to Houston in Week 17.

They are on the outside looking in at this point, but they just need to finish with the same as the Jets because they would have a better conference record.

TITANS' PLAYOFF ODDS: 30 percent

13. The Cincinnati Bengals

20 of 32

The Bengals are 7-6 and in the mix for the final wild-card spot in the AFC, but they have proven down the stretch that they are not on the same level with the elite AFC teams.

Cincinnati does benefit from a soft schedule down the stretch.  They have games with the Cardinals and Rams before the finale with the Ravens.  They cannot afford to lose any of those game.

BENGALS' PLAYOFF ODDS: 30 percent

12. The New York Jets

21 of 32

The Jets currently hold the final AFC playoff spot.  They have a game on the Titans and Bengals after both of those teams lost on Sunday.  All they have to do is win out, and they are in.

They play the Eagles and Giants in the next two weeks.  If they are going to slip up, it will probably be in one of those two games before playing Miami in Week 17.

JETS' PLAYOFF ODDS: 45 percent

11. The Denver Broncos

22 of 32

The Broncos just keep winning football games with Tim Tebow playing quarterback.  It's not always pretty, but the win is the most important thing at the end of the day.

Contrary to popular belief, it's the Broncos' defense that's winning football games.  They have benefited from playing some weak offensive teams in the last few weeks.  That's not the case this week when they take on the Patriots.

They control their own destiny in the AFC West now that they are in sole possession of first place.

BRONCOS' PLAYOFF ODDS: 55 percent

10. The Detroit Lions

23 of 32

The Lions got back on track this week with a win over the Minnesota Vikings.

Detroit is still holding on to a playoff spot right now.  They are tied with Atlanta at 8-5.  Those two teams would be the wild card if the season ended today, but there are a couple of teams lurking at 7-6.

They have a tough schedule with all three of their games being against teams that are still playing for something.  2-1 might not be good enough to get them in.

LIONS' PLAYOFF ODDS: 55 percent

9. The New York Giants

24 of 32

The Giants got a huge win against the Cowboys Sunday night.

New York now controls their own destiny in the NFC East.  They have a one-game win over the Cowboys and still have one more game against them.  Their other two games are against the Redskins and Jets.

They can lose one of those two as long as they beat Dallas in week 17.

GIANTS' PLAYOFF ODDS: 65 percent

8. The Atlanta Falcons

25 of 32

The Falcons battled back in the fourth quarter to knock off the Panthers on Sunday.

They are sitting in a good spot right now.  They are 8-5, and only have one game remaining against a team with a winning record.

They are not going to catch the Saints for the NFC South title, but it's hard to see a scenario where they do not end up in the playoffs.

FALCONS' PLAYOFF ODDS: 70 percent

7. The San Francisco 49ers

26 of 32

The 49ers have clinched the NFC West title.  The only thing they have left to play for is a first-round bye.

Their chances of getting that bye took a hit this week with their loss and the Saints' win. Those two teams are tied at 10-3 with three left to play.

San Francisco has a tough one this week when they play the Steelers at home.  They will be in good shape if they win that one because the only games they have left are against the Seahawks and Rams.

49ERS' PLAYOFF ODDS: 100 percent

6. The New England Patriots

27 of 32

The Patriots are right where you expect them to be at this point in the season.  They pretty much have the AFC East wrapped up and are in a three-way tie for the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

They play the most intriguing game on the Week 15 schedule against the Broncos.  A win in that one would clinch the division and kill some of the hype surrounding Tim Tebow.  Talk about a win, win.

PATRIOTS' PLAYOFF ODDS: 100 percent

5. The Pittsburgh Steelers

28 of 32

The Steelers are another team that have a playoff spot wrapped up.  They are still in the hunt for the AFC North title, but they will need to finish with a better record than the Ravens because they lost to them twice.

They only have one game left against a contender.  That's good for them because it's going to take a 3-0 finish to have a shot at hosting a playoff game.

STEELERS' PLAYOFF ODDS: 95 percent

4. The Houston Texans

29 of 32

The Texans just will not lose.  They were facing games against the Falcons and Bengals with their third-string quarterback and won them both.

Now, their schedule gets a little easier with games against the Panthers, Colts and Titans the rest of the way.  They have already clinched the AFC South.  Now, they are fighting for the No. 1 seed in the AFC.  Don't bet against them.

TEXANS' PLAYOFF ODDS: 100 percent

3. The Baltimore Ravens

30 of 32

The Ravens control their own destiny in the AFC North.  As long as they end tied with the Steelers, they win the division.

They still have a lot more to play for than just that.  They are currently tied with three other teams at 10-3 for the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

Their schedule is pretty tough down the stretch with games against the Chargers and Bengals.

RAVENS' PLAYOFF ODDS: 95 percent

2. The New Orleans Saints

31 of 32

The Saints are pretty much assured a playoff spot at this point.  The only question is can they move ahead of the 49ers and get a first-round bye.

The only tough game they have left on their schedule is Week 16 against the Falcons.  If they win that one, they will be sitting pretty for the No. 2 spot in the NFC.

SAINTS' PLAYOFF ODDS: 95 percent

1. The Green Bay Packers

32 of 32

The Packers just keep rolling along.  They are looking like a pretty safe bet for 16-0 at this point when you look at their remaining schedule.  The only team they play with a winning record is the Detroit Lions.

Green Bay has already clinched a playoff spot, and one more win will clinch them home-field throughout the playoffs.

It will be interesting to watch how much Mike McCarthy plays his starters down the stretch. Will they make a push for 16-0 or rest guys?

PACKERS' PLAYOFF ODDS: 100 percent
