LA Kings-Phoenix Coyotes: Jonathan Quick Shuts Down Desert Dogs
One night after limiting the Kings to one goal, the Coyotes coughed up three in about five and a half minutes and proceeded to get shutout by the boys from the “Freak Kingdom” 4-0 in front of 16,199 fans at Jobing.com Arena.
There isn’t much to say about this contest that is positive, other than at least some fans got free food out of the deal. Tonight was the first game featuring the new All-You-Can-Eat Pack, featuring upper level tickets and unlimited food and soda, and I’m sure that stuff didn’t settle very well into the ‘Yotes’ fans stomachs.

The Coyotes had several chances during the rest of the game to close the deficit, but they were unable to capitalize on a 5-on-3 in the second period, and also managed to blow FIVE opportunities on the power play in the third period.
“Tonight we were flat and there really is no excuse for it,” said Coyotes forward Shane Doan. "The team needed to be ready to go and tonight we didn’t have the jump that we needed.”
Head Coach Wayne Gretzky wasn't pleased with the loss either.
“We had a power play early in the hockey game and we failed to pretty much even get into their zone and that set the tone of the hockey game,” said Gretzky. “Our power play was definitely a negative tonight.”
There really isn’t much to say about this game other than the Coyotes stunk up the arena. If they hope to stay in the playoff hunt in the West (they are currently seventh), then they’ll need to come out with more fire and energy than they did tonight.
