Cleveland Cavaliers Are Good, Maybe Even the Best in the NBA

Fedor ButterDec 27, 2008

We all know that the Cavaliers, Lakers, and Celtics have great starts in the league, one team has got to be the best? Can you tell me which team that is?

Let's just take a look at the three teams above, because I think you can have your own opinion as: The Pistons are the best because...Iverson plays in it. Opinions like this are opinions I don't care about.

Now let's take a look at the Celtics, Lakers, and Cavaliers.

Celtics: First place in the Eastern Conference and entire league; 27-4, Last year champions. Lost last two games against Lakers and Warriors (Yes, the Warriors!).

Lakers: First place in the Western Conference, Third place in the entire league; 24-5, Defeated the Celtics in LA.

Cavaliers: Second place in in the Eastern Conference and entire league; 25-4, undefeated at home.

Now, you don't have to get A+'s in Math to see that the Celtics have the best statistics, but does that make them the best team?

Now, this is how I'm looking at it trough the glasses of a Cavaliers' fan. I see the
Cavaliers' season opener against Celtics they lost with 90-85. Ok so you can say that the Celtics were better that moment then the Cavaliers, but are the still better?

The Cavaliers did just get a new point guard by the name of Mo Williams. They needed some time to get together and become a team. As a matter of fact, they lost in the third game against the respectable Hornets too.

From that moment it only got better and better with the Cavaliers. The lost just two games after that against the Pistons and the Hawks. They crushed tons of Eastern and lost of Western teams. They became a team.

Now the stats are kind of equal like 27-4 of the Celtics, that are really realistic number for the Cavaliers, they win two games, come at 27-4 and tie up with the Cavaliers. Ok, ok the Celts need to play games meanwhile too but you get the point. So, I can't tell you which team is better right now, we will have to wait till match up against the Celtics on 09-01-2009.

This was the part of Cavaliers—Celtics, tie? I don't know. Without statics but just by seeing the games I go for Cavaliers.

Then the Cavaliers—Lakers. This season they haven't matched up yet, let's take a look at the teams. With this part I come to the Lakers—Celtics at the same time, I'll explain. We all saw the matchup of Lakers-Celtics which the Lakers won to my surprise.

So if you think the Celtics are better then the Cavaliers, then you will have to be realistic and say that the Lakers are the best team in the league (they won against the Celtics). So the team with the "worst" record, 24-5, is the best team in the league?

This is where I take a step away from the statistics. We all have seen the Celtics losing two in a row, and we all have seen that the Lakers won against the Celtics. What we also have seen (you don't need glasses for that), is that the Lakers aren't that great.

Hmm...Well actually, the Cavaliers are great at the moment. When the play awful, they win. When the play good, they win. When they play great, they crush teams!

Does this mean that the Cavaliers are the best team in the league? No!
They do play really good but we have to wait the match up against the Celtics and the matchup against the Lakers. Even then we can't see which team is the best.
The Finals will tell, but till then...we can speculate a lot.

Now can you tell me which teams is the best? Because I can't tell you. The only thing I can tell you is that I'm a Cavaliers fan and I'm happy with it. So please, don't respond with: Celtics are the best! -> No you dummy! Lakers are the best! -> No, you're both wrong! Cavaliers rule!

Because this isn't going to help!

Now we can speculate a lot and I'll see you at the Finals. Have a great season and thanks for reading.
