Week 14 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em: Marshawn Lynch and Others You Must Start

Chris TrapassoDec 7, 2011

It is fantasy football playoff time—when setting your lineup is the most important.

You can't lose to your old, college floormate that never stops the trash talk.

As usual, I'll try to stay away from the clear-cut "must-starts" like Aaron Rodgers, Ray Rice and Wes Welker.

These are the three more underrated fantasy guys you have to get off the bench this week, for many reasons.

Marshawn Lynch

1 of 3

I said I'd try not to list the obvious guys, but I don't care how obvious of a start Lynch is this week—he is arguably a top-three running back against the Rams at home.

He's run for more than 109 yards in four of the Seahawks' last five games and has five touchdowns over that span.

Although he was held to 88 yards on 27 carries in his first meeting with St. Louis, don't worry.

Lynch is at home and the Rams are still allowing 157.8 rushing yards per game.

Seattle knows they are a run-first club and don't be surprised if Mr. Beast Mode himself gets more than 125 in this NFC West game.

Huge game and consequently more Skittles for Lynch.

Laurent Robinson

2 of 3

Yes, Miles Austin returns for the Cowboys this week and everyone's sending Robinson to the bench.

Not smart.

Even if Austin is back to 100 percent, which I'm not sure he is, the rapport formulated between Romo and Robinson cannot be ignored.

He had four catches for 72 yards last week. Against the Giants—a game that could quickly become a shootout—Romo will be forced to throw it frequently.

I'd keep Robinson in your starting lineup.

Philip Rivers

3 of 3

Philip Rivers was impressive on Monday night, but he was facing a decimated Jaguars secondary that was already one of the worst defensive backfields in football.

I do like his matchup against the Bills this week, and that's exactly why he's a must-start.

Buffalo is allowing 234 yards through the air and opposing quarterbacks have averaged an 87.8 QB rating this season against them.

They're also last in the league in sacks with 17, so Rivers should have more time to throw than he's had in a while.

And he's at home.

Start him.
