NFL Week 14 Picks: Predicting the Week's Biggest Winners
Finally, the Dallas Cowboys face off against the New York Giants.
Been waiting for this one for a while.
I think I missed the Saints-Titans matchup when I looked at the schedule earlier in the year, but there's certainly some intrigue there, mainly because of Chris Johnson's resurgence.
The Bengals need to get back on track against an injury-ravaged yet resilient Texans team if they want to sneak into the postseason.
Which teams will be the biggest winners in Week 14?
New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys
1 of 3I've got the Giants in this one.
Here's why.
New York, despite their recent losing streak, has been on of those most aerially explosive clubs in football.
Eli Manning has his full compliment of receivers, and I simply believe they'll prove to be too much for Dallas' secondary.
Even if Rob Ryan sends a variety of blitzes in Manning's direction, he'll be able to dump down to guys with great yards-after-the-catch ability underneath.
DeMarco Murray should have a decent game, but in the end, I don't trust Tony Romo to outscore the Giants in a game that could be a shootout.
New Orleans Saints at Tennessee Titans
2 of 3Chris Johnson is back.
Right?
He most definitely is against the inferior run defenses.
Oddly enough, the Saints' run defense is ranked right in the middle of the NFL, at No. 16.
To me, this contest will be closer than expected, mainly because these teams will take a while to feel each other out.
Matt Hasselbeck is having an underrated season, and Johnson certainly makes Tennessee's offensive attack more threatening.
In the end, Brees will be too much.
He hasn't been as deadly on the road, but he's hot right now and shouldn't have any issue dicing through a secondary that's allowing more than 230 yards passing a game in 2011.
Cincinnati Bengals at Houston Texans
3 of 3I've been kind of hard on the Bengals this year, mainly because I didn't have as much faith in their offense as many of the experts and NFL analysts did.
As of now, their best win is on the road in Tennessee.
They're up against, arguably, the best defense in football this week, and if A.J. Green doesn't make some big plays down the field, Cincinnati will have a tough time consistently moving the ball down the field.
For Houston, they'll ride Arian Foster and Ben Tate while limiting what T.J. Yates is asked to do.
This game could be close going into the fourth quarter, but the Texans' superior defense will create a few turnovers that will ultimately lead Houston to their seventh straight victory.
