These are the latest tips for the waiver wire steals heading into Week 14's action.
For those of you bummed about the Matt Forte injury, it is safe to grab Marion Barber. He certainly isn't the pass-catching threat Forte is, but he'll get most of, if not all of the carries inside the 10. There is no way the Bears' coaching staff has a ton of confidence in Caleb Hanie throwing the football into tight windows within the red zone, so the acquisition of Barber could work.
He faces a Broncos' defense that allows more than 120 yards on the ground per game, although it's likely they'll crowd the box to force Hanie to beat them.
If you're desperate, grab Barber, but don't expect him to carry you to the next round.
A dark-horse waiver wire guy this week is the Packers' Brandon Saine. James Starks was injured once again and, despite carrying the ball only six times for 16 yards against the Giants, he caught four passes for 29 yards on six targets. In a PPR league, Saine won't be a terrible flex option against the Raiders in Week 14.
Grab Nate Burleson right now. The Lions face the Vikings' atrocious secondary this weekend, and Burleson has taken full advantage of team's rolling coverage Calvin Johnson's way in the second half of the season. He has five or more catches in each of the Lions' last four games.
After barely factoring into the passing game for the first 10 games of the year, Buffalo's Brad Smith has been productive over the last two weeks. He had 10 targets against the Titans on Sunday and led the team in catches (seven) and yards (72). The Chargers' defensive backfield isn't terrible, but you better believe Ryan Fitzpatrick will be slinging the ball all over the field in San Diego this upcoming Sunday.
C.J. Spiller isn't a terrible flex option, either. He had 83 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries last week.
I'd stay away from any Bears wide receivers, and the Broncos' passing attack is too hard to predict to grab Demaryius Thomas, although I wouldn't be stunned if he pieces together a few quality games with the majority of his opponents' attention on Eric Decker.
