To All Denver Nuggets Fans: Major Moves On The Way

Sean StancillFeb 15, 2008

Warning! this report was written by a Denver Nuggets fan and is solely based on the opinion of a true sixth man. The trades below are only for the good of the team and for the well being of this organization in the future.

Well, halfway through the season, and the Denver Nuggets are not on top of their division and are not even a top-eight team in their conference (judging by Standings of course) .

Am I the only Denver fan out there heavily disappointed ? Houston wrestled away the eighth seed from them although both teams share an identical record at 32-20. Anyway if any of these trades happen, I’m a psychic, a inside man, a NBA guru. If I’m wrong sue me, for mixing in fantasy with reality.

1. Sam Cassell via Buyout

A veteran PG with proven leadership. Cassell has also taken a strong liking to Coach George Karl and vice-versa. Cassell would like to be apart of Karl’s coaching staff in the future and believes he is the best person to help him make the change.

2. Ron Artest and Kenny Thomas via trade for Linus Kleiza and Nene

Although testy and immature at times, Artest is a lockdown defender with savvy offensive skills. Artest one of the best one on one defenders in the league, will have to cope with that he will be the Nuggets third best scoring option. Ron is already welcoming trades and has been involved with a deal to send him and Kenny Thomas to Denver for Linus Kleiza and Nene.

3. Ben Gordon , Chris Duhon, Thabo Selfolosha via trade for Nene, J.R. Smith, and Linus Kleiza

With Iverson aging and possibly becoming a free agent at the end of the year, this move makes sense. Gordon can also become a FA but with talent surrounding him like in Denver its highly unlikely and he would resign with the team. Gordon a deadly shooter and good overall player, he will thrive in this environment. Denver also becomes youthful and acquires a potential lock-down defender in Thabo and a decent PG in Duhon.

4. Tyrus Thomas via trade for J.R. Smith and Linus Kleiza

A young immensely talented star in Tyrus Thomas immediately sets them up to be a defensive minded team in the near future. Tyrus will have to adjust to their system but it won’t take him long to adapt from the way he’s playing in Chi-town. Chicago may be reluctant in giving him up but with Noah, Aaron Gray, and Adrian Griffin all competing for a role anything is possible. They only give up J.R. Smith a player who has a history of making costly plays against his team in the playoffs, and Linus Kleiza, a player who only shines maybe 20 games out of the year.

5. Eddy Curry via trade for Nene

Since Nene will be out for a while, Curry will address some of the Nuggets’ problems and can take some of the load off Allen Iverson and Carmelo Anthony with his 13.7 PPG average. A big body at 6-11 285, Curry will be a handful to some teams lacking size in the paint. His intensity issue should be addressed and hopefully will change in the Mile High.

6. Jeff Foster via trade for Eduardo Najera

Lets face it, Najera no longer has the decent outside shooting he was signed for. Jeff Foster is a force in the offensive glass and can provide a solid contribution coming off the bench with a solid 6.4 PPG 8.5 RPG. Foster’s hustle and leave all out on the floor mentality makes him a key piece that Denver simply can not pass up.

7. Shelden Williams via trade for Chucky Atkins

No secret that the Nuggets’ are having problems down low in the paint and all over on defense. Williams brings physical toughness, hard nosed rebounding, and shot blocking in the post for a team that sorely needs help on the defensive side.

Well, whatever Denver decides to do, it must lead down the road to a major push towards the NBA Finals.
