NFL Week 13 Picks: Home Teams Guaranteed to Fail

Ryan RudnanskyDec 3, 2011

Home-field advantage is only as good as the team on the field.

It's always nice to play at home in the NFL, but when your team stinks, it doesn't make much of a difference.

Week 13 has plenty of stinkers to choose from.

Here are three of them that are bound to fail.

3. Miami Dolphins (3-8)

I'll say this: The Dolphins are better than their record indicates.

They have a good defense and quarterback Matt Moore has actually been very good in the last two weeks.

Nonetheless, they aren't much better than 3-8, and they face the AFC West-leading Oakland Raiders in Week 13.

The Raiders have won their last three games behind quarterback Carson Palmer, a strong running game and a receiving corps that contributes across the board like a real team should.

Head coach Hue Jackson deserves tons of credit for what he's done with this roster, and the Raiders appear to be playoff-bound.

2. Minnesota Vikings (2-9)

It's fair to say the Vikings have just one star on each side of the ball this season: defensive end Jared Allen and running back Adrian Peterson.

Well, if the Vikings were tanking with Peterson, just imagine how they'll do without him.

Peterson is going to be held out against the surging Denver Broncos in Week 13, and that spells trouble for the home team.

The Broncos have won their last four games and the Vikings have lost their last three games.

1. Cleveland Browns (4-7)

The Browns already have an abysmal offense.

Just think what it will look like against the vaunted Baltimore Ravens defense.

The Browns are averaging 15.0 points per game while the Ravens are allowing 16.5 points per game, third-best in the NFL.

Plus, the Ravens are just coming off a big victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
