NFL Week 13 Picks: QBs Who Will Have Their Teams Flying High
If you're a fan of high-powered offenses and the quarterbacks who lead them, well, Week 13 of the 2011 NFL season is going to be fun to watch.
Three of the QBs listed here are on a Super Bowl contending team and have such favorable matchups that it's going to be interesting to see who puts on the best show.
2011 is proving to be one amazing year for stud QBs, but then again, when is it not a good time to be a stud QB?
Aaron Rodgers, Packers (at Giants)
1 of 4Green Bay slowed down a bit on the road against the Lions, but it was on a short week against a division rival and the Packers still rolled offensively.
Aaron Rodgers had yet another fantastic performance and we can expect even more this week in The Big Apple. For one, the Giants have a vulnerable pass defense and were thrashed by Drew Brees of the Saints last week.
There's no reason why Rodgers won't shred the G-Men, especially with extra time to prepare. Factor in that the Packers defense leads the NFL with 22 INTs and Rodgers will get a few more possessions than required.
Not to mention New York has a weak rushing offense, so their only chance is to keep pace with the Green Bay as the Giants lack the ability to slow the game down. That said, Rodgers and the Packers roll once again in an important road game en route to perfection.

Drew Brees, Saints (vs. Lions)
2 of 4As previously mentioned, the Packers were able to play pretty well against the Lions on a short week in Detroit. Well, things don't get any easier for the Lions as they play at New Orleans against the Saints.
Drew Brees is on a record setting pace for single season passing yards and being that they need this win at home to keep the Atlanta Falcons at bay in the NFC South, Brees will slice and dice once again.
Detroit had a good pass defense through the first half of the season as they didn't play any high-powered offenses. Now, however, we're finding out how truly vulnerable they are and whether or not their own offense can match the juggernauts in the NFC.
Much like Rodgers, Drew Brees spreads the ball around just as well and keeps the defense guessing. Additionally, the Saints also have the ability to run the rock at will, and Detroit is weak at defending the run.
The Saints play supremely well at home and the Lions are just 2-4 in their last six games.
The Saints over the Lions
Tom Brady, Patriots (vs. Colts)
3 of 4The game of the week that is going to be the blowout of the week. Tom Brady against an Indianapolis Colts defense that allows almost 240 pass yards and just over 150 rush yards per contest.
Tom Brady may split through the sound barrier this week in New England against the winless Colts. Now, Brady doesn't spread the ball around to a million different targets like Rodgers and Brees does.
However, Brady does have two of the best playmakers at their position.
WR Wes Welker and TE Rob Gronkowski have been off the charts this season and play a major role in the NFL's No. 1 passing attack. Regardless of what the Colts try to do, it won't matter.
Brady is simply too good at recognizing coverages, where the blitz is coming from, and feeling the rush in the pocket. The Colts lack basically everything on defense so barring a catastrophic and nervous breakdown from the Pats, this game will get ugly before the first quarter is over.
Patriots over the Colts
Cam Newton, Panthers (at Buccaneers)
4 of 4Somewhat surprising to see a rookie on the list but nonetheless, Carolina's Cam Newton is the real deal. Although the Panthers are just 3-8, Newton has them ranked at No. 9 in passing and No. 6 in rushing.
As for their Week 13 matchup in Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers defense ranks No. 28 and No. 30 against the pass and rush, respectively. Alltogether they allow almost 400 total yards per game while the Panthers gain almost 400 per contest.
So how can the Bucs honestly stop the Panthers? They can't and won't. Carolina has solid receiving weapons in WR Steve Smith and TE Greg Olsen who will be tough to account for.
In addition, no matter how well the coverage is for Tampa, Newton has the ability to scramble as good as anyone in the league. He's a big reason why the Panthers rank No. 6 in rush offense and his dual-threat versatility will kill any momentum that Tampa gains.
The Bucs' best shot is to control the clock, but with an inconsistent offense, they'll be fortunate to score half the points of Carolina.
