NBA Free Agent Rumors: Brandon Roy, Nene and Stars on the Move
The 2011 free agent frenzy is getting set to kick off, and there are some big names at the forefront of all the talk.
While many experts feel that several big trades could shake up where stars will be playing this season, it will be the free agency market that sees big names like Brandon Roy and Nene finding new homes.
The following list is of the best free agents that will be available and on the move when all is said and done.
Brandon Roy—Once the Portland Trailblazers exercise the amnesty rule with Brandon Roy and allow him to become a free agent, he will be the biggest name on the market.
While he has had trouble staying healthy over his career, Roy is one of the most dominant all-around players in the NBA when he is healthy.
The best spot for Roy would be the Chicago Bulls. He would not only fill their need at shooting guard, but he would be the ultimate thorn in the paw of LeBron James and the Heat.
Nene—With a lack of talent at center on the free agent market, it tends to make the available players seem more appealing than otherwise thought. That’s what Nene is benefiting from.
While it’s true that Nene was solid with the Denver Nuggets, he has never been considered one of the best in the game. Despite that fact, a team will vastly overpay for Nene.
Teams like the New Jersey Nets and Houston Rockets have expressed interest in going after the big man, so his departure from Denver appears eminent.
Caron Butler—The Dallas Mavericks won the NBA Championship without Caron Butler playing, so they figure they won’t need him when he is healthy either. That’s why Butler is hitting the road.
NBA Insider for CBSSports.com Ken Berger is reporting on twitter about teams considering Caron Butler as a free agent option:
Butler has never stayed healthy for an entire season, so a team that goes after the versatile forward will need to be cautious. While he is a risk, he is the kind of all-around player that can put a contender in the hunt for a title.
