Dallas Cowboys Are Making Me Sick to My Stomach

Once again, I feel like vomiting.

Once again, the Dallas defense crumbles down the stretch of an important fourth quarter, just as it did in Pittsburgh.

Two weeks ago, the Cowboys had a lead in the fourth quarter, in a very cold game in Pittsburgh.

The Steelers offense had been shut down all game, due to a huge pass rush by DeMarcus Ware, Jay Ratliff, and Bradie James.

But the game of football lasts 60 minutes—four quarters. Not three-and-a-half quarters.  Not fifty-five and a half minutes.  And with Romo's INT to Deshea Townsend, my one-week sickness was contracted.

And then, the farewell to Texas Stadium.  Through three quarters the Cowboys were dominated.  They couldn't muster a single good thing offensively, there one TD coming on a Joe Flacco fumble setting them up with great field position.

After giving up a late field goal to fall to nine, it looked over.  Then, Romo led the Cowboys down the field scoring a TD.  But on the first play from scrimmage, needing a defensive stand, Willis McGahee takes it 77 yards to the house and my heart sinks.

But in Romo I trust, and he leads us back down the field to throw another TD pass. It is Le'Ron McClain kicking me in the teeth, breaking through the defense for 82 yards.

Random thought: What is the NFL record for yards accumulated on back-to-back offensive carries by one team? I'm not sure, but I think that 77 and 82 would be close.

Sickness.

This defense is the reason we beat Tampa Bay without Romo. The reason we beat Washington holding them to ten points, the reason we beat the Giants—but the reason we couldn't beat the Ravens in a very important game.

I do have faith they can turn it around and beat Philadelphia to get into the playoffs—but then, who knows?

Another random thought: Bradie James should be in the Pro Bowl.
