Penn State Scandal: Lawsuit Means New Victims Will Come out Against Sandusky
The Penn State scandal will not go away anytime soon. As the days go by, new victims will start to gain the courage to speak out against the accused Jerry Sandusky.
Recently, there has been a new accuser who has spoken out against Sandusky.
According to KIMATV.com:
"The lawsuit identifies the plaintiff, an adult, only as John Doe. It claims Sandusky abused the boy at the coach's State College home, at Penn State facilities and on at least one bowl game trip.
The plaintiff is not among eight victims named in a grand jury report released earlier this month that detailed a series of alleged assaults involving Sandusky and boys as young as 10. Sandusky has acknowledged showering and embracing young boys but denies molesting them.
"
This latest accuser is another victim in a growing list that is starting to pile up against Sandusky.
The first eight were bad enough. If the list of those who were allegedly violated by Sandusky stopped at eight, it would have been bad enough. Now, you will see more people speak out against the former assistant coach.
When attorney Mitchell Garabebian, who is a defense lawyer in these type of cases, appeared on The Early Show earlier in November he predicted that more victims would come out.
""This is the tip of the sexual abuse iceberg," he said. "You have children at a very young age reporting this, but the accounts state that children have come forward over the course of 15 years. They will be coming forward for decades.
"Individuals who have been sexually molested have coping skills that allow them to come forward when it's time. And individuals will come forward, and (by) then they are 40, 50, 60 years old, to report this abuse. Just recently, an 86-year-old man contacted me and said he'd been carrying around abuse for 80 years, and it was time to do something about it."
"
He went onto add, "Once a victim comes forward, it empowers others to come forward. They feel encouraged, they feel empowered, and they feel as though they are not alone. words about this situation.”
We don’t know how many victims were involved during Sandusky’s alleged actions. However, what we will see is more people with the strength to come out and face the person they were the most afraid of.
The nightmare of Jerry Sandusky will not go away for Penn State anytime soon. This will be something that they will have to deal with for a very long time.
