NFL Regular Season Grades from Professor Moreland, University of Football

Thomas MorelandDec 23, 2008

Here are your regular-season grades for all your teams playing football in our great nation this season.

We will grade on effort, citizenship, behavior, and performance. Wins and losses are graded in a letter grade, and effort and behavior on a separate scale ranging from E for excellent, A for average, and P for poor.

Thus, the team's grade will be the letter grade first, such as B, followed by effort grade, such as e, and finally behavior: e, a, or p.

One idiot player can bring a whole team's behavior or effort grade down, as well as affect their wins and losses as well.

OK, lets get started.

Miami Dolphins: They are playing for the division title this week, but had some behavior issues by one Joseph Porter. B+ with an A for effort, and a P for boorish and unbecoming statements and attitude, by the aforementioned player.

New England Patriots: After losing the class president to injury, his replacement has done a fine job and the team still has a chance of making the playoffs.

The coach got in some trouble, bringing a camera to class, while he should have been studying, but it was a minor infraction, as a lot of other coaches are doing it too, from undisclosed locations. B, with an E for effort and an A for behavior.

New York Jets: Their leader in the last few games has fallen into the under- achieving category. The coach has made some bad decisions, and may be let go. also. Team grade for the season C, with an A for average effort and a P for tattle- ta-ling. Poor behavior.

Buffalo Bills: Poor coaching decisions and inconsistency doomed this team midway in the season and continued to the final game. C-  with an A for average effort and an E for excellent behavior.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Won their division and held together in sometimes rocky roads, during the actual games. Grade A for a very tough testing schedule, E for effort, and AA for above-average behavior.

Baltimore Ravens: They had a new class president, a youngster who has guided them well. B, with an E for effort and an AA for above-average behavior.

Cleveland Browns: Well it seems like these guys just can t study very well for tests and their teacher is just not getting the job done. It's hard to get respect from your students with a name like Romeo, I suppose. Grade D, P for poor effort, and an A  for average behavior.

Cincinnati Bengals: Where do I start? D-  with a P  for poor effort, and a P, for poor behavior from class clown, Mr. Cinco.

Tennessee Titans: A good teacher, fine students and a good season s grade for this team. A little horseplay and bad sportsmanship hurt their behavior grade a little near the end of finals this year. Grade: A , E for effort and an A for average behavior.

Indianapolis Colts: Some guys got hurt this season, but a fine leader in Tony Dungy, and their wonderful quarterback Peyton Manning got them through the regular season with flying colors. Grade B+ E for excellent effort and an E for excellent behavior .

Houston Texans: It's hard to point out any flaws in effort or behavior of this team, but something just didn't click this season. Maybe not enough hard work to start the season is to blame. Study a little harder next season kids. Grade C, A for average effort and an E for excellent behavior.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Just a poor effort through out the school year. Good behavior and a good teacher can only go so far. Mr. Del Rio must be a little harder on his students if he wants them to realize their potential. Grade C-  P for poor effort and an E for excellent behavior.

Denver Broncos: Can you say classic under achievers? I thought you could! Denver's grade C  with an A for just average effort, and an A for average and sometimes arrogant behavior by professor Shanahan.

San Diego Chargers: Had some adversity early on in the season but somehow played through that and injuries to maybe win their division. Grade for the season C with an E for effort and an E for excellent behavior and class in defeat.

Oakland Raiders: Childlike behavior by the owner, bordering on senility doomed this team as a loser again this year. Poor decisions in drafting good students seem to plague this team. Grade for season D, with an A for average effort and P for poor ownership behavior.

Kansas City Chiefs: Bad coaching decisions in game situations, injuries, and just a lack of cohesiveness hurt this group of youngsters this year. Grade, D-  A for average effort  and  a P , for poor behavior by upperclassman Lawrence Johnson, showing poor maturity and decision-making away from the confines of school. A professor change may be in order here.

The New York Giants: After posting high scores in last years final exams this group continued  to be very good students of the game of football. They will be at home this postseason.

However, behavior issue s plague Professor Coughlin as he gets ready for this seasons final exam. Grade for season A, E for maximum effort, but a P for poor behavior from one Mr. Plaxico Burress, who remains suspended and out of school.

Dallas Cowboys: This team has big behavior problems. Hard to concentrate on studies, when loud-mouths and too much drinking by immature students, seems permeate the dorm atmosphere. No supervision seems to be the key here as well as the university's president and a hands off attitude.

Grade for season B-, with an A for average effort  and a PP for poor poor behavior!

Philadelphia Eagles: This professor didn't give a good student the ball enough this season. To much wild throwing of the ball instead of patient running hurt this team, again and again.

Andy Reid, you need to say your sorry to Philadelphia fans and Mr. Westbrook for shunning him this season. It's too late now to make amends. Grade C- A for average effort and an E for excellent behavior. Side note: Mr. McNabb, please study your rulebook!

Washington Redskins: Inexperience and maybe a lack of confidence hurt this team's chances this season. Maybe next year when Professor Zorn knows his students a little better, they will excel once more at football studies. Grade C-  AA for above average effort, and E for excellent behavior. The loss of a good student is hard to deal with, and our prayers are with his children and loved ones.

Minnesota Vikings: Inexperience on a leadership level is the key here. Mr Peterson has tried to lead by example and his teammates must be aware of that. Perhaps the Most Valuable Player this year is Adrian Peterson. Grade for this team B-, AA, for above average effort, and an E, for excellent behavior.

Chicago Bears: This team lacks a true leader. Mr. Urlacher tries, but it's hard for him to get the guys to score enough points. Perhaps a change of direction in the quarterback position after years of mediocrity would help. Running the ball, isn't the problem, or the defense most of the time. Grade C, E for effort, and an E for excellent behavior.

Green Bay Packers: Ahh, a school storied in tradition has a change at key positions to weather through. It's been a very tough year for defensive personnel and some changes need to be made. Grade for season D, A for average effort, and an A for average behavior by a mean front office who kicked out a good student for indecision.

Detroit Lions: Well, you all know what s coming here. F  followed by a P for poor effort, followed by an E for excellent behavior in the course of adversity. At least they didn't make excuses or blame anyone else but themselves.

Carolina Panthers: Just a lack of studying on the road a bit, hindered this team, a tad. Better work habits will get this team over the top , perhaps. Grade B+  with an E for effort, and an E for excellent behavior.

Atlanta Falcons: A huge effort to bounce back form a very disloyal professor, who left his students in disarray and a former bad bad team leader, who is in prison, for crimes against the state and poor defenseless creatures.

What a great story has unfolded this football semester, as all is well in Atlanta once more. Grade for season  A, with an E for effort, an E for excellent behavior, and a Rookie Of The Year award for Mr. Matthew Ryan.

New Orleans Saints: Hard to say what went wrong here this semester. Possible drug tests were a distraction and injuries didn't help either. Guys, please don't take weight-loss pills without knowing the ingredients.

Your team leader throws well. Catch more passes! Defense, get back to basics and stop someone next season. Grade for season C-, A for average effort, and a P for poor decision making, in regards to medication.

Arizona Cardinals: No. 1, please prepare better on day trips in cold weather. You have a great leader, and a good coach. Just try harder on the road, please!  Grade  B , BA for below average effort, and an E for excellent behavior.

One player, Mr. Boldin does get a gold star for above average effort in the face of an injury. And I do mean face! Your teammates should be more like you, and you would win a road game now and then.

San Francisco 49ers: You have gotten on the right path, just a bit too late this season. Keep up the good work, study hard and you will graduate next year to one of the better teams, at least in the west.

Professor Singletary is to be commended. Grade C, with an E for effort at the end of this season, and an E, for excellent behavior.

Seattle Seahawks: Injuries played a big part, I know, but you have to listen to your next professor a little better to make the grade. This year's grade D, A for average effort and an E  for excellent behavior.

And last, and almost least, the St. Louis Rams, who only studied for two tests this year. Horrible study habits got you where you are today, failing school. Grade D-, P for poor effort, and an E , for at least excellent behavior.

There are your regular season grades for all your teams, I hope some study harder in the next NFL school year
