Is It Finally the Year That Brett Favre Retires?
The past year, we have seen a lot out of New York Jets QB Brett Favre.
Many think it has been too much.
And I have to agree.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
We all thought after he said he was going to retire about nine to ten months ago that he was actually going to retire.
And boy, were we wrong—he ended up staying in the NFL.
And even more weird than that, he was traded to the New York Jets from the Green Bay Packers.
And who can blame the Packers?
They want to move on, and Favre holds them hostage. Sure, he has the right to have a little while to contemplate his retirement. He is Brett Favre, why not?
But when you say you're retiring and then you do the press conference and say it to the world, you're kind of done.
And the Packers thought that too—so they moved on, got ready for the draft, and they were set to start the 2008-09 season.
And boom—here comes Favre, saying he wants to come back.
Meanwhile, the Packers are ready to move on to the future with Aaron Rodgers. So Favre gets in a huge feud with the Packers, and he feels if they don't want him, he can just be traded.
He eventually goes to the Jets. And he plays pretty well the first half of the season. And now the Jets are right in the thick of playoff contention—that is, if they hadn't lost this week.
Which brings me to Favre. What happens to him after this year? Does he do as he did to the Packers, and hold the Jets hostage until he comes to a decision? Or does he say yes or no on coming back?
I think he should go. If you look back on Favre's career, you know he has nothing to play for. He has been an NFL MVP. He has every known pass record, even the most interceptions (which is something he continues to do a lot lately).
He has even won a Super Bowl. So why stick around another year? Go to TV or something. People like Jerry Rice stayed around too long. He didn't want to quit like Favre.
He ended up not being very productive his final years, but if he would have retired earlier we wouldn't have to see the greatest receiver of all time miss the cut on a Denver Broncos squad.
Favre is probably the greatest QB of all time, and like many I love watching the guy. But there is a time and place to hang it up. Go out with dignity, Favre. I don't want to see you miss the cut like Rice did.
Imagine Favre missing the cut on his team, or losing the starting job to a younger guy. He played a respectable season in New York this year.
They do not look Super Bowl-bound, even if they win this week. They look like a one and done team in the playoffs. There is so much we can remember him for—I don't want to remember him as the terrible starting QB in the league who should have retired.
He had a good season, like I mentioned, and I mentioned also that I liked the guy and he is one of my favorites to watch. But he has to hang it up this year. The Jets need to move on, and Favre didn't really have a great year statistics-wise.
He made a few clutch throws, but that was just Favre. Let's look at the games they lost and see the reasons why. I'll tell you a secret—it was Favre. He lost some of the games for them on throws he could make easily six or seven years ago.
He should have retired years ago, but once he had a great season last year, he felt invincible. You're not Favre, I'm sorry. Hang them up so we can remember you as the greatest of all time—not the guy who was the worst in the league.
What do you think? Should Brett Favre retire after this season?
