NFL Power Rankings: 3 Top-10 Teams Guaranteed to Drop in Week 13

Adam WellsNov 30, 2011

The top 10 of the NFL power rankings have been in a constant state of flux this season. Sure, the Green Bay Packers are clearly the best team in the league, but the teams that come after them are up in the air.

Week 13 is going to be a big week for a lot of the teams in the top 10. There are teams that are going to make big leaps, while others are going to bottom out for various reasons.

Don't be fooled by the way some of these top teams are playing right now. They are getting by on a wing and a prayer, or a soft schedule has helped make them look better than they really are.

Here are three top-10 teams that will fall from their perch in the top 10 after this week's games.

Baltimore Ravens (8-3)

The Ravens are coming off one of their best wins of the season against the 49ers on Thanksgiving, but their highs have always been followed by lows.

They have followed victories over the Steelers and Texans with losses to the Titans, Jaguars and Seahawks. So why is this week going to be any different?

Even though they should win this week against the Browns, would you really be shocked to see them lose? The inconsistent performance Joe Flacco does not inspire a lot of confidence as we enter the home stretch of the season.

Houston Texans (8-3)

At some point playing with a third-string quarterback is going to come back to bite you. It’s not Houston’s fault that Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart got hurt, but there is nothing that this team can do to make up for those losses at this point.

The Texans might actually be cursed, especially when you consider that they looked like a Super Bowl contender just two weeks ago and now would be lucky to win a playoff game.

A non-conference matchup with the Falcons has lost a lot of its luster, and this could be the first step in the Texans falling to the middle of the pack in the NFL power rankings.

Oakland Raiders (7-4)

The Raiders have snuck up on people this season but they are the best team in the AFC West, and it is not particularly close.

The problem is they aren’t much better than anyone else. Their offense is not very good, though the eventual return of Darren McFadden could turn things around in a hurry. Carson Palmer is still adjusting to his new team, but he is still turning the ball over too much.

They have a game against the suddenly hot Dolphins, who were one last-second field goal away from a four-game winning streak.

The Raiders are not going to be able to overcome their own inconsistencies on offense to win this game, and as a result will slide down the power rankings.
