Rajon Rondo Trade Rumors: Chris Paul is a Huge Upgrade for Boston Celtics
Several names hit the NBA trade block the past couple of days. Some, like Chris Paul and Dwight Howard are expected, but seeing some names in rumors are a total surprise; including Boston's Rajon Rondo.
Rondo's name first popped up yesterday in a rumor involving the New Orleans Hornets' Chris Paul.
NBA Insider Sam Amick and ESPN's Chris Broussard both reported that Danny Ainge is highly motivated to land Paul and would be willing to move Rondo to get him.
While it looks as if it would take a third team to get involved to have any possibility of acquiring Paul, if they somehow could, it would represent a huge upgrade at the point guard position for the Celtics.
No disrespect to Rondo at all. I'd take him on my team, but if there was even a small chance that Ainge could bring in Paul, he needs to act quickly.
Rondo is among the handful of the better point guards in the league. In Paul though, they could land possibly the best. He's an upgrade over the streaky Rondo and could fill the role of an extra scorer to take some of the load off Paul Pierce.
Comparing Rondo and Paul statistically throughout their careers, Paul is a guy that's averaged eight more points and two more assists per game.
Maybe it's just an attempt by Ainge to add some new blood to the Celtics lineup, but anytime you could possibly add a guy like Paul to your lineup, it's an upgrade.
Even if it means parting with Rondo.
