NFL Power Rankings Week 13: Bubble Teams That Will Continue to Fall

Ryan RudnanskyNov 30, 2011

Both the NFC and AFC playoff pictures are bunched up right now, which could make for some exciting football in the final few weeks of the NFL season.

We have four teams currently battling for a wild-card spot in the NFC right now, and six teams battling for a spot in the AFC.

But if you look closely at the remaining teams, there are a few that stand out that are headed down a black hole.

Here are three bubble teams that will continue to falter and not make the playoffs this season.

3. New York Giants (6-5)

After defeating the New England Patriots in Week 9, the Giants have completely tanked.

They've lost their last three games against the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles and New Orleans Saints, and they got blown out by the Saints, 49-24.

There's way too much inconsistency going on with this team right now to count on.

Another year of being a playoff contender, another year of being left out.

2. New York Jets (6-5)

By now, the Jets organization has to start looking at their situation at quarterback and running back.

Head coach Rex Ryan is starting to sound like a lunatic, standing by quarterback Mark Sanchez as if it was his son.

The pass defense of this team can only do so much; at some point, the Jets need to be consistent offensively.

And don't tell me scoring 28 points against the Buffalo Bills is an accomplishment, because it isn't.

1. Buffalo Bills (5-6)

The Bills survived early in the season due to an explosive offense, but when that offense died down in recent weeks, the defense hasn't been able to pick up the slack.

The Bills are giving up 25.5 points per game this season and they've given up 28 points to the Jets and 35 points to the Miami Dolphins.

They can't defend the run, or the pass, and they basically need to score at least 30 points per game to win.

Unless this defense makes a dramatic comeback, the Bills' playoff hopes will quickly go up in flames.
