Week 13 Fantasy Football Rankings: Ranking the Best QBs

Zach KruseNov 29, 2011

Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints put on a passing clinic against the New York Giants on Monday night to close out Week 12.

Now that Week 13 is upon us, it's time again to rank the fantasy quarterbacks for the final week before most leagues begin the playoffs.

We'll run down the top five fantasy football quarterbacks for Week 13 in the following slides.

5. Cam Newton, Panthers

1 of 5

Newton has cooled off considerably in recent weeks, but I'm not ready to jump off his fantasy bandwagon just yet.

He's still running in touchdowns (three in the past two games), and you have to like his matchup against the Buccaneers this weekend. Tampa Bay is the 29th-ranked fantasy defense against opposing quarterbacks this season.

Expect a couple of scores and a better overall passing day from Newton in Tampa Bay.

4. Tony Romo, Cowboys

2 of 5

The two early interceptions against the Dolphins stain what has been a terrific four-game stretch for Romo.

During that span, Romo has thrown for over 1,000 yards with 10 passing touchdowns—all ending in Cowboys' wins.

Romo and the 'Boys travel to Arizona this weekend, and the Cardinals have been absolutely dreadful defending the pass at home this season. Expect another big day for Romo as Dallas extends its winning streak.

3. Drew Brees, Saints

3 of 5

You'll be hard-pressed to find a quarterbacking performance that rivals that of Drew Brees on Monday night against the Giants. He combined for five total touchdowns and 363 yards passing in a 49-24 rout of New York.

Brees gets the Lions this week, and it's more than likely that they'll be without Ndamukong Suh (suspension). Without a key part of their defensive line, Brees should have plenty of time to pick apart what is a poor secondary.

2. Aaron Rodgers, Packers

4 of 5

The Giants have some players on defense that cause problems, but it surely hasn't shown up over the past couple of weeks. On Monday night, Drew Brees did whatever he wanted in the passing game against the Giants defense.

It doesn't get any easier this week, with Rodgers and the Packers coming to New York. Don't forget, Rodgers threw for over 400 yards against the Giants last December in a game that started the Packers' current 17-game winning streak.

He might not get to 400 again, but Rodgers is a safe bet for big numbers against a leaking Giants secondary.

1. Tom Brady, Patriots

5 of 5

Some would say that Drew Brees has been the hottest quarterback lately, but I'd make a pretty solid case for Brady, who has eight touchdown passes over his last three games and faces a Colts defense this weekend that has been getting shredded all season long.

The only thing in this matchup to worry about might be the score; if the Patriots get up early, it's possible that Bill Belichick takes his foot off the Colts' already broken neck (bad pun?).

Either way, Brady is the top quarterback play of the week.
