Ahmad Bradshaw Injury: Updates on Giants RB's Week 13 Status and Fantasy Value

Wes ODonnellNov 29, 2011

The New York Giants need Ahmad Bradshaw now more than ever.

Big Blue's horrendous three-game slide coincides with the running back's absence and it is painfully evident that they do not have anybody worthy of replacing him.

His foot injury has become a legitimate problem and the Giants are in danger of missing the postseason for the third straight year.

UPDATE: Dec. 4 at 11:35 p.m. EDT by Adam Wells

The Giants need some good news to get excited about after losing three straight games and falling out of first-place in the NFC East. It sounds like they are finally going to get some.

Rachel Nichols of ESPN tweeted out that Bradshaw expects to be in the lineup today, pending pre-game workouts and doctors clearance.

Even though it is not set in stone, this is great news. The Giants running game has fallen off a cliff, and is a big part of the reason that they have lost three straight.

Bradshaw may not be back to full strength, but he is still better than Brandon Jacobs and brings a dynamic to the offense that has been missing.

UPDATE: Dec. 2 at 2:45 p.m. ET by Eric Bowman

Jeff Roberts covers the Giants for The Record, and he tweeted the latest on Bradshaw's status for Sunday afternoon against the undefeated Green Bay Packers

This is good to hear, but it's coming directly from the player. The coaches have a say as well, and sources from the team informed ESPN's John Clayton about Bradshaw's health. He too took to Twitter to share the news.

The Giants have really missed Bradshaw. Brandon Jacobs wasn't cutting it by himself, but to be fair, the Giants were down big at times, which took a good amount of carries away from Jacobs.

The Packers rank 12th in the league against the run, and since there is no telling for sure how productive Bradshaw will be, I would put him on my bench. It's understandable if you have nobody else, but this is too risky for my liking.

There's no doubt that Bradshaw is itching to get back into action, but I don't see him being a huge factor for the Giants this Sunday.

UPDATE:

The Giants waited until Saturday to rule out Bradshaw last week and he was said to be "moving around well" despite not practicing.

One negative on that note is that the Giants expected Mario Manningham to play last night and he was a late scratch so it is tough to judge right now.

New York will host the undefeated Green Bay Packers in Week 13. The defending champions have actually given up three straight 100-yard games and the Giants desperately need Bradshaw back in the lineup. Not only is he their best back, but he's the only one that can catch the football out of the backfield consistently.

Should Bradshaw not be back in the lineup, the Giants will continue to go with Brandon Jacobs and D.J. Ware. Rookie Da'Rel Scott will also get a few chances.

Against the Packers the run game needs to be a factor. Unfortunately, you can't expect that with what the Giants have been doing thus far.

More will be updated on Bradshaw when more is known. The Giants will likely update his status on Wednesday.
