Plaxico Burress Receives Even More Legal Trouble

“As if Plaxico Burress’ year hasn’t been shot through enough with legal troubles, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel a Miami woman has filed a civil suit against the Giants receiver, alleging he is at fault for a car crash that resulted in neck and back injuries for her.

The plaintiff, Alise Smith, 27, said Burress rear-ended her on Florida’s Turnpike in Tamarac. Her lawsuit filed in Broward Circuit Court seeks more than $15,000 for medical bills, lost wages, and damage to her car.

“Ms. Smith, who wearing a seat belt, was rear-ended by Mr. Burress, who failed to maintain a safe braking distance, maintain a proper lookout or to exercise reasonable care,” said Gregory Dell, Smith’s attorney. “All of this was the cause of this accident and Ms. Smith’s resulting injuries.”

Seeing as how this incident supposedly occurred in May, you can’t say it’s a continuation of the reckless behavior that resulted in Burress shooting himself in the leg last month. Still, I don’t think anyone wants to be the guy who has defend Plaxico against suits arising from dumb acts.”
