WWE News: Luchador Averno Reportedly Heading to WWE in the Near Future
The WWE—and in particular, the SmackDown brand—has seen an influx of luchadores in 2012.
Shortly after Sin Cara’s debut, he was drafted to the blue brand, where he went on to feud with Sin Cara Negro, a.k.a. Hunico. Hunico then dropped the mask and formed a stable of sorts with Primo and the debuting Epico.
It looked like we would see a luchador era in the WWE, but at Survivor Series, Sin Cara ruptured his patella tendon and is expected to be out for six to nine months. Just like that, the WWE’s supposed luchador era went up in smoke, and now, Epico, Primo and Hunico seem like they could get lost in the shuffle over on SmackDown.

Or will they?
From F4Wonline.com (via WrestleNewz.com):
"More of the same regarding luchador Averno finally coming to WWE. Averno recently lost his one singles title with the CMLL promotion in Mexico, which immediately started the talk up of him leaving for the WWE roster.
Averno’s WWE debut faces another roadblock this time as Sin Cara is injured and out of action until some time in 2012. The upside for Averno is that WWE may bring him up now to feud with Hunico, Epico and Primo since Cara is out.
"
I would definitely approve of this move.
When we started seeing a number of luchadores on the SmackDown brand, I was really excited about the infusion of these high-flyers onto the WWE’s main roster. Among other reasons, the luchador era would broaden the WWE’s appeal to the Hispanic viewing audience, help strengthen the undercard and add another team or two to the tag team division.
Sin Cara’s injury blew up those plans, however, and I was skeptical about the WWE finding a way to get around that. Now, however, it appears as if Averno could be the solution to this problem.
Fine by me.
As I mentioned, there are some very real benefits to having a number of luchadores in the WWE, and if the company can make due while Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio are out of action, then big things could happen when they do return to the ring.
Sin Cara vs. Mysterio? A Sin Cara and Averno tag team? Hunico and Epico vs. Sin Cara and Averno?
Count me in for any of the above.
