BCS Rankings: Houston, Boise State and BCS Title Contenders That'll Get Screwed

Donald WoodNov 28, 2011

The BCS Rankings and Championship are figured using the aid of computers. I completely think that computer hates smaller conference schools.

Programs like Boise State, TCU and Houston have phenomenal records but aren’t getting the kind of respect they deserve from the computers making the decisions.

The following teams all have a legitimate gripe; therefore they should rise against the computers and take over college football. Or just win out, whatever.

Houston—The Houston cougars are 12-0 on the season and sit at No. 6 in the nation. Five places behind their rightful spot at No. 2 in the country.

When the Cougars trounce the No. 24 Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles on Saturday in the Conference USA Championship game, America will see the team that should be playing in the national title game.

While the masses may scream that Alabama should roll, they lost. Houston is undefeated and last time I checked, no loses is far better than one loss.

Boise State—While Boise State lost to an unranked TCU team, they too are way underrated. That makes that loss even more understandable now that TCU is officially ranked in the BCS standings.

The success of Georgia also shows just how good Boise State is, but leave it to the BCS computers to choose the typical programs over the teams from non-AQ conferences.

Year after year, programs like Boise State and Houston are passed over for mediocre teams from big–name schools. It’s completely unfair.

TCU—With the departure of Andy Dalton and several other key pieces for the TCU Horned Frogs, no one gave them any chance at being a legitimate threat.

A Week 1 loss to Baylor hurt, but it was only by two points. The only other TCU loss was in overtime by only seven points. Add that to a victory over Boise State and you have a team that should be ranked as high as most, if not all, two-loss teams.

If TCU beats UNLV, they deserve consideration for a serious bowl over every team with three loses and most two loss teams.
