College Football Recruiting 2012: Predicting December's Biggest Commitments
With the 12th month now upon on us, it's time to try to predict who will announce their commitments in December. Now, a recruit is free to commit anytime they want, but by my research, I've noticed that many players will wait until either the Army-Navy game or until National Signing Day.
But there are a couple players whom I think will be making their choices in December. Some are expected announcements, while some may be a surprise to you.
Come and find out.
Cyrus Jones, RB/DB
1 of 4Jones is fresh off a visit from Auburn, and it seems the trip to The Plains was an excellent one. Jones is an ultra-quick RB/DB prospect standing at 5'11" and 185 pounds.
Auburn vaulted themselves thick into the mix, but they're competing with Alabama and Virginia Tech. The combination of quality football and the academic clout of the school's degree are two big factors that will shape his decision.
Look for a decision before Christmas.
Darius Hamilton, DE
2 of 4Hamilton plays for Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey, the Rivals.com No. 1-ranked team in the country. He's trying to win a national title in the high school ranks, so he's delayed his decision.
Hamilton was thought to be ready to announce next month on MSG-TV, but that's now on hold. He could still choose to make his commitment in December, but for now, it's up in the air.
Cal, Florida, Tennessee and Oklahoma will get official visits, and the fifth visit is up for grabs between Rutgers, LSU and Virginia Tech.
Jordan Jenkins, DE/OLB
3 of 4Jenkins has been on seemingly every "Predicting This Month's Biggest Commitments" piece. I know, I know—but he'll continue to be, since I think he could make his decision anytime.
Jenkins says he has a top four rather than a top two: Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Auburn are all even. Nic Saban and Kirby Smart will pay a visit to Jenkins' home on Wednesday, and so will Dan Quinn from Florida.
Jenkins will then sit down and re-examine things, perhaps, finally, settling on a decision.
Keith Marshall, RB
4 of 4December 6th.
Mark your calendars, folks, because that's the day Keith Marshall will announce where he's going to play college football.
Florida, Clemson, Notre Dame, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina are the top six schools. Some days I think Florida will get him, other days I'll think Georgia, then I'll want to watch out for Clemson...and don't sleep on Notre Dame.
But all that will be put to rest on December 6th.
