I'm Convinced Andy Reid's Playbook Has Been Swapped For a Quizno's Menu

It blows my mind that I'm forced to watch the Eagles lose a 'must win' game to a very beatable Redskins team. With a win yesterday, the Birds would be controlling their destiny, as they say.

But that clearly is too much to ask of our wideout core that actually misses 'alligator arms' Todd Pinkston. At the very least he didn't drop wide open catches—only the ones where he'd expect the hit.

We'll pick this one up in the 4th quarter...Birds are only down a touchdown...The Skins can't get any more points to save their useless season...What does the fat man do?

Pass, pass, and pass some more.

9 straight passes yielding no first downs—in fact, they yielded us 3 straight 3-and-outs. Last time I checked the Eagles have a RB by the name of Brian Westbrook...You know, the all-purpose back who is elusive, slippery, and game-breaking?

The guy has averaged 4.0 yards per carry all year long, and Reid won't give him the ball for 3 straight 3-and-outs! In fact for a stretch late in the game (late 3rd into the 4th) Reid dialed up SIXTEEN passes in a row.

Then they get down to the 1-yard line as time expires...wait, what? Time expired?  Well, why didn't they just call a time-out you may ask? Oh, I remember now: the world's best red flag tosser is also the world's best clock manager!

This is seriously beginning to be a problem...

I think it's safe to say that this regime isn't getting it done. Top to bottom.  Scouting, drafting, practice, gameday, execution, playcalling. Defense is the only positive here. Jim Johnson is the best thing the Birds have and he will probably take a head coaching job sometime sooner than later.

I simply cannot understand the philosophy, which is in dire need of an overhaul.  West coast offenses need an accurate quarterback. D-Mack isn't exactly that.

They also require sure handed receivers, not the sort who will drop 7 passes in a game. That being said I can't entirely blame the playcalling for yesterday's loss.  The kid D-Jack dropped two huge passes (one in the end zone) and #22 Asante dropped a pick (maybe a pick six) that would've changed the field position from inside the 5 to at least midfield.

If you are listening in, Mr. Jeff Lurie, it's time for a change.
