BCS Rankings 2011: Oregon and Teams That Should Be Ranked Ahead of Boise State
Several teams always get shafted in the BCS rankings, but the Top 10 of the latest list is particularly bad.
The 10-1 Boise State Broncos are sitting at No. 7, which is way too high for a one-loss Mountain West team.
The Broncos have only beaten one quality team (Georgia) and that was in Week 1, before the Bulldogs became a force of nature.Since then they've padded their offensive numbers by beating up on terrible teams like Fresno State, Colorado State and Wyoming.
I like Kellen Moore and company, but their latest ranking is too high. The following two-loss teams should be ranked ahead of Boise State.
No. 8 Arkansas Razorbacks
The Razorbacks have two losses on the season, but they came against the two best teams in the country.
They were blown out both times, but everyone gets blown out by LSU and Alabama (except when they play each other).
Arkansas plays a brutal schedule in the SEC and have already beaten three ranked teams (Texas A&M, Auburn, South Carolina).
The Razorbacks deserve way more respect than they are getting.
No. 9 Oregon Ducks
The Pac-12 is pretty weak this year, but the Ducks should still be ranked higher than BSU.
They destroyed No. 4 Stanford 53-30, which is much more impressive than any of the Broncos' wins.
Also, both of their losses came against ranked teams, one of which was LSU.
If you can score 27 points against LSU, you should just be rewarded with a victory, because that's damn impressive.
No. 10 Oklahoma Sooners
The Sooners' two losses are by a combined 10 points. And while the 41-38 defeat to Texas Tech was pretty bad, there's not much shame in losing to Robert Griffin III and that dangerous Baylor squad.
Like Arkansas, Oklahoma has three victories over ranked opponents and plays in a much tougher conference than BSU.
The Broncos are a quality team, but should be sitting at No. 10 right now.
