BCS Bowl Projections: SEC Bias Has Nothing to Do with Alabama vs. LSU Title Game

Kyle VassaloNov 27, 2011

Those who are bitter about the inevitable matchup between LSU and Alabama and are coming up with these SEC bias conspiracy theories need to take a step back and look at the facts. Both of these teams have earned the right to play in the national championship. They are both undefeated in regulation, and though a rematch isn't the most popular matchup imaginable, it's the only logical matchup.

Just because Alabama didn't win their conference does not mean they aren't the second-best team in the country.

Those who are so against the SEC putting forth two teams would probably agree that the best two teams should play in the national championship.

How can anyone argue that Alabama is not?

Oklahoma State has signature victories on their resume, but they lost to lowly Iowa State. Stanford got blown away by Oregon. Virginia Tech's 23-3 loss to Clemson looks a lot worse now than it did when it initially happened.

Unlike all of the other teams looking to secure the second spot in the national championship, Alabama doesn't have a blowout loss or loss to an inferior team on their record.

The best two teams in the nation should play in the BCS Title Game. This is one of those years where two SEC teams also happen to be the two best teams in the nation. Being in the same conference as LSU shouldn't keep them from competing for it all.

They've proven themselves week in and week out, and to suggest bias has anything to do with LSU and Alabama colliding once more is ridiculous.
