Bowl Projections: Alabama Will Get Revenge on LSU in BCS Title Game

Josh SchochNov 27, 2011

LSU may have beaten Alabama in the regular season showdown, but the Crimson Tide will beat LSU in the National Championship Game and have the last laugh.

Even though these two teams met in the regular season, they must play once more in the National Championship Game, as they are clearly the two best teams in the nation.

Alabama has the best defense in the country, allowing a minuscule 8.8 points per game, while scoring 36 of their own per contest.

LSU has the second best defense in the country, allowing 10.6 points per game while scoring 38.2 of their own.

These two teams have proven week after week that they are the only teams that can challenge one another, and they must fight in the BCS Championship Game.

When they meet in New Orleans in an all-SEC showdown, Alabama will come away with the victory in another low-scoring affair.

When the two teams played on November 5, Alabama nearly won the game, but they missed a total of four field goals, leading to their loss.

Alabama outplayed LSU, yet they did not win. Alabama had more first downs, more total yards, more time of possession, fewer penalties and did better on third down. The top performers in each category (passing, rushing, receiving) all came from Alabama.

The Crimson Tide deserved to win the game, but fell short because of their kickers.

Alabama has worked with their kickers now, and they are ready to make up for that loss.

While you can make the case that Alabama was only competitive because they were at home, these teams do just as well on the road as they do at home. That is saying a lot, as it is a difficult task to mentally prepare teenagers to play well in a hostile environment, but Nick Saban and Les Miles have found out how to do it.

Alabama will surely be ready for this game, and they will find a way to pay LSU back for that loss.
