Peyton Hillis: Fantasy Players Should Stop Hoping and Send Browns RB Packing
If you are wondering if Peyton Hillis is going to play today for fantasy purposes, I have just one question to answer you with.
Why is he still on your roster?
The Cleveland Browns RB has not played since Week 5 and has been dealing with various ailments and injuries. Prior to going on his hiatus, Hillis only had one solid game against the worst team in the league, the Indianapolis Colts.
Now that his hamstring is apparently 100 percent normal and he is taking reps with the first-team offense in practice, Hillis may actually see the field today against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Tony Grossi is reporting that he is active today, but Montario Hardesty and Chris Ogbonnaya are also going to be playing.
Does this mean he will be a stud once again, like he was last season?
Of course not.
The Bengals possess one of the stingiest defenses in the league and are allowing just 88.6 yards to opposing rushers. They’ve given up 10 touchdowns, but the Browns have only managed to score three TDs on the ground all season—and Hillis scored two of those against the crummy Colts.
With Hillis, Hardesty and possibly Ogbonnaya all set to get reps today, there is little chance of the former starter scoring a TD or producing more than a few yards on the ground.
It’s time to give up on the RB as a fantasy option this season and look elsewhere. Backs like Toby Gerhart and Joe McKnight should be available for last-second free agent pickups this week, and possible long-term starters like Maurice Morris are some options for you to win your league.
Hillis is just terrible and has no chance of salvaging his pitiful season, so send him packing and let some other unfortunate fantasy owner deal with him.
