Bowl Projections: Big East Champion Will Get Slaughtered in BCS Bowl Game

Justin WeltonNov 27, 2011

The Big East Conference is an absolute joke in college football, in case you weren’t aware. It doesn’t matter who wins the league, they will get embarrassed in a BCS Bowl game.

Louisville has a great chance of winning the conference if Cincinnati loses to Connecticut in their final game of the 2011 schedule.

Yes, Louisville—the same team that lost to Florida International and Marshall. What a joke. The Cardinals are 7-5 on the season. It’s laughable that they are even in contention.

The nation got a glimpse of how poor the West Virginia Mountaineers are in several instances this season. LSU was the first team to prove to the world that West Virginia was overrated after their 26-point victory on ESPN’s College Gameday.

But that was against a tough team, so we can give them a pass. However, they were on national television later in the season against Syracuse, the worst team in the Big East. The Mountaineers lost by 26 points again. In each game, West Virginia gave up 47 and 49 points, respectively.

Pathetic.

That performance should be enough to deny them an opportunity to play in a BCS Bowl game. It was embarrassing.

Cincinnati (8-3) lost at 5-7 Tennessee by 22 points. They aren’t perfect darlings either. To make things worse, starting quarterback Zach Collaros broke his right ankle and is done for the rest of the regular season. They hope to get him back in time for a bowl game.

It won’t matter who wins the Big East or who they play; it will be a blowout. The Big East is that poor, and other teams are head-and-shoulders better.

The Big East is garbage. Its demise can’t come soon enough, and I never thought I would say that. They have turned a prideful football conference into an absolute embarrassment.

Whoever wins the conference will not only lose in a BCS Bowl game, but they will get slaughtered. It doesn’t matter who they play.
