Week 12 NFL Injury Report: Fantasy Football Advice for Adrian Peterson, Others
As expected, star running back Adrian Peterson was ruled out for Week 12, which came to no one's surprise. Peterson's injury is not serious but it could be another week or so before he gets back on the field. Toby Gerhart should get the bulk of the carries.
Adrian Peterson was probably the biggest injury of Week 11, but a lot of other key fantasy players are struggling to get on the field. Here is a quick list of the status of several players that may be the difference between winning and losing this week.
Michael Vick: Out
1 of 5Michael Vick did not practice at all this week, and will not play against the Patriots. Vince Young, who had an up-and-down game against a good Giants defense, will get a favorable matchup against New England.
With a win under his belt, Vince should feel more comfortable in his role and is primed for a solid performance. If you need a replacement for Vick, Young is a good option this week as he can get points with his legs and his arm. It also helps that DeSean Jackson will play.
Ahmad Bradshaw: Out
2 of 5Bradshaw was once again ruled out for Monday night's game against the Saints.
Jacobs will get most of the carries, but he has been largely ineffective so far, averaging less than three yards per carry. If he is going to turn his disappointing season around, this week would be a good week to do it. The Saints have struggled against the run this year, especially against bigger backs like Jacobs.
Andre Johnson: Will Play
3 of 5Andre Johnson will finally return to action this week against the Jaguars. His value is hurt a bit by the Schaub injury, but the Jaguars secondary has had a lot of injuries. He should be considered a top play in all formats.
Julio Jones: Will Play
4 of 5Julio Jones will play this Sunday against the Vikings. This is a good match-up for Jones, as the vikings have given the 4th most fantasy points to wide receivers this season.
Matt Ryan usually plays better at home, and Jones was able to practice this week. It appears as if Jones' hamstring issues are going away.
Shonn Greene: Will Play
5 of 5Shonn Greene will start at running back today for the Jets against a poor run defense against Buffalo. Greene probably could have returned against the Broncos, but the Jets did not want to take any chances.
Since the injury occurred last Thursday, Shonn has had a few extra days to heal up and is a good match up against Buffalo at Home.
