BCS Rankings Week 14: Projecting the Top 25

T.J. McaloonNov 27, 2011

When the latest BCS Standings come out later today, there will not be a lot of difference from last weeks poll. There were no major upsets, or season defining wins. To sum up this week’s poll compared to last week’s, it was a boring week.

LSU and Alabama dominated their games this week inside of the SEC. They will come into this week’s BCS standings a No. 1 and 2. Oklahoma State will slide into No. 3, as they sat idle and will benefit from Arkansas getting crushed by LSU.

Virginia Tech handled their business in beating Virginia on the road to win the ACC Coastal division. The Hokies will be rewarded by moving into No. 4 on the new standings. Stanford had a solid performance against No. 22 Notre Dame, and will be the team that rounds out the Top 5.

Like I said, this week was boring, as there wasn’t any upsets. The new Top 5 are all teams that were ranked No. 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 last week.

The only really movers in the new BCS Standings are teams ranked between No. 11 though 20. No. 16 Wisconsin had a huge win over No. 19 Penn State to clinch the Big Ten Leaders division. The win should move the Badgers up a few spots to No. 14.

No. 17 Clemson continued their free fall down the BCS Standings, losing their second straight game this week. Their blowout loss to No. 12 South Carolina should drop the Tigers to the bottom of the new poll.

Finally, with another loss to No. 24 Auburn, will the new BCS Standings finally see the Tigers fall out of the standings? It seems like Auburn should have fallen out after their losses to LSU and Georgia. Let’s see if this week they will be at No. 25, or finally left off the new list.

This BCS Standing means a lot, as it gives us a good preview of what the final BCS Standings will look like next week. Because after next week, the standings will be final and we will know who will be playing in our BCS National Title game.
