BCS Rankings Week 13: Notre Dame and Teams Who Will Fall out of Top 25
Rivalry Week has come and gone, and we now look for the rankings in Week 13 of the college football season. When those rankings come out these teams will all fall out of the Top 25 after losing this week, proving that they don't belong with the big boys.
Auburn Tigers
The Auburn Tigers have been in the Top 25 for the last seven weeks, hovering around the bottom, but in that elite group nonetheless.
The Tigers squared off with No. 2 Alabama in the Iron Bowl this week and were humiliated. Trent Richardson ran for over 200 yards en route to a 42-14 smackdown of Auburn for the Crimson Tide.
The Tigers were No. 24 coming into the week and there is no way they maintain their status in the Top 25.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
They ranked No. 23 coming into the week and hosted No. 13 Georgia in a matchup thought to be exciting. Unfortunately, the Yellow Jackets couldn't get much going as they lost 31-17.
Georgia's Aaron Murray threw for four touchdowns in the game. Georgia Tech ran the ball well for over 200 yards, but threw for only 112, leading to their demise.
Georgia Tech has been dropping in the rankings as of late but were able to make it back into the Top 25 last week after missing out the week before. The Yellow Jackets are going to fall out of the Top 25 for the second time in three weeks.
Penn State Nittany Lions
Without Joe Paterno, the Nittany Lions appear to be falling apart. They have gone 1-2 since Paterno has left, including yesterday's ugly 45-7 loss.
Penn State scored first, going up 7-0 nothing, but they then went on to be outscored 45-0 and were absolutely killed by No. 16 Wisconsin.
The Nittany Lions looked pretty bad yesterday and because Paterno is gone, this team is not what is used to be. The BCS standing will reflect that, pushing them out of the Top 25.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
To be honest, Notre Dame was only in the Top 25 because of the value of their name and now they have shown that.
The Fighting Irish have played a pretty easy schedule and have still lost four games now. We knew they would lose to No. 6 Stanford this week, but they could not even keep it competitive.
The Irish are 8-4 and have lost every big game on their schedule except for the game against Michigan State. The Fighting Irish are clearly not Top 25 material and will not be in that elite company after the new BCS Rankings come out.
