NFL Week 12 Picks: AFC West in for Difficult Sunday

There isn't a single division in the NFL that's on par with the AFC West. Even though the Raiders are starting to heat up, it's still mathematically possible for any one of the teams to win. Actually, it's more than mathematically possible. 

Two games separate the Raiders, who are in first place, from the Chiefs and Chargers, who are tied for last place. 

This week is not going to answer any questions. 

Let's start with the Chargers and Broncos, who play each other. Obviously, someone is going to win that game.

If the Chargers and Raiders win, then the division all of a sudden looks a little clearer. But neither of those are terribly likely. 

The Chargers are just playing terrible right now. I don't know that I would call the Broncos a good football team, but they are finding ways to win. That's really all that matters. 

So, we'll start with that game and predict a Broncos win over the Chargers. It won't be pretty, but a win is a win.

Now, to the Raiders. They have done well without Darren McFadden, but they haven't done that well against a team like the Bears. That's who they are lining up against on Sunday.

The Bears will be without Jay Cutler. While that will hurt, remember that Matt Forte is the overwhelming majority of their offense. The Raiders run defense isn't the one to stand up to him.

In Oakland, it will be close, but the Bears running game and strong defense gives them the edge.

That leaves the Chiefs. Kansas City has reverted back to its early season form. I wouldn't bet any money that they will win one more game this season.

I am certainly not going to take them to beat the Steelers.

So, the only win that the AFC West will get on Sunday will come when two teams play each other. 

The Raiders have the ability to change that, but the Bears are moving in the right direction and an overall better squad. 

Predictions:

Broncos 20, Chargers 16

Bears 23, Raiders 17

Steelers 34, Chiefs 17
