College Football Predictions Week 13: Alabama and Teams Headed for Narrow Wins

Week 13 is the final regular-season game for many teams in college football. These three teams will get their opponents' best on Saturday, but each will win tight games in the end result.

Louisiana Tech

I know a lot of fans might not be paying attention to the Bulldogs, but they are 7-4 this season with a chance to make it to eight wins.

They have played well in 2011, with losses to Houston (35-34), Mississippi State (26-20) and Southern Miss (19-17). They picked up wins against Mississippi and Nevada. They have won six games in a row.

This team will put themselves in a decent bowl game if they can get a victory over New Mexico State.

Sometimes, when a team is looking for that one victory to propel themselves to a decent bowl game, they struggle to seal the deal.

New Mexico State isn’t very good, but they can sling the ball around (289 YPG). The Aggies will keep it close before faltering in the final half.

Florida State

Florida is an average team (6-5) this season, but winning in Gainesville is never an easy task to accomplish, even if they are struggling. Florida State, a team that has had their ups and downs this year, will escape with a victory over their in-state rival because they are simply better than Florida.

The Seminoles have won five of their past six games. The Gators have only won twice in seven attempts. These two teams are headed in different directions.

Florida State’s defense is No. 7 in the country in points allowed. When the Gators played LSU, they scored 11 points. When they played Alabama, they scored 10 points. When they played Georgia, they rattled off 20 points. They struggle against top-15 defenses.

The Seminoles defense will be too strong for the Gators offense.

Alabama

There are many people that believe Alabama will easily glide past the Tigers of Auburn, but I think it will be closer than people think.

Alabama’s vaunted defense allowed 21 points to Georgia Southern last week. They didn’t allow 21 points until Week 4.

Auburn is undefeated at home this season (6-0). They will come ready to play in one of the best rivalries in college football. They will come to the field and salvage their season by giving Alabama all they can handle and then some.

But in the end, Alabama will prove too much for the Tigers. Running back Trent Richardson puts his stamp on the Heisman Trophy in a statement performance.
