Hope Solo: DWTS Taking Shot at Soccer Star's Physique Is Embarrassing
Dancing with the Stars should be ashamed of themselves for telling Hope Solo that she was too intense and muscular.
Solo pointed out the hypocrisy in that critique best when she went on Anderson Cooper's talk show and said, "Hello, you cast a female athlete."
Of course Solo is going to being to be muscular and intense. If they were looking for a passive, fragile female contestant, they shouldn't have ever brought Solo into the competition.

She wears her emotions on her sleeve and it's not exactly a secret that she's jacked. Just check out this cover of the ESPN the Body Issue.
Solo didn't go into detail about the context of the critique or exactly who said it, but that is irrelevant. The show should have been more concerned about the nation witnessing Nancy Grace's wardrobe malfunction than America having to "stomach" seeing Solo's physique.
She's one of the hottest athletes in the world and to suggest that she was too in shape is absurd. It's her job to be built like that. Competing at the highest level in her sport is far more important than any dance show and it's hard to believe Solo thought too much about the criticism.
When they cast Solo, they might not have known what they were getting, but whose fault is that? Solo is a transparent athlete and even though what she has to say isn't always popular and she's not dainty and politically correct, she's perfectly fine the way she is.
The show was out of her element and winning it all was a long shot, but she got to step outside of her comfort zone and have a unique experience regardless. Unlike many of the contestants on the show, this isn't the highlight of Solo's career.
Now Solo has to turn her focus to the Olympics. Hopefully, she'll be able to fit her muscle-bound body in the goalie box.
