NBA Trade Rumors: Memphis Grizzlies Should Consider Moving Rudy Gay
The Grizzlies might not want to part ways with Rudy Gay, but they've proven that they can excel without him, and with his trade value sky -high, they shouldn't hesitate to deal him.
There have been countless reports suggesting that Gay may be on the move, but as this report from CBS pointed out back in June, the team doesn't seem too keen on dealing him away.
The ideal scenario would be having their cake and eating it too by hanging onto Gay and still managing to bring in a rising star like Monta Ellis.
Teaming them up would be spectacular, but the Grizzlies' success in the playoffs with Gay going down suggests that Gay contributes to the success in Memphis, but it won't go away if he does.
Obviously, the Warriors aren't just going to give away a potential All-Star shooting guard for free, but if the Grizzlies threw Gay onto the block, it would certainly raise their eyebrows.
One great talent for another is a deal that could and should get done. Both parties involved would benefit, and making this move would push the Grizzlies from a fringe playoff team to a serious contender in the West.
The suitors don't stop there, though. If Gay officially went on the block, teams would be coming out of the woodwork for a shot at him.
The Grizzlies have proven that they have what it takes right now to be a playoff team, but to take that next step they would be better off parting ways with Gay and overhauling the roster with the return they are guaranteed to see if they move him.
