College Football Week 13: Predictions for Saturday's Top Ten Games
Today we're getting the opportunity to see some of the best rivalry games that college football has to offer.
From Auburn-Alabama to Ohio State-Michigan, there are enough prestigious matchups to excite even the most fair-weathered of college fans.
We already saw LSU and Houston survive yesterday, now it's time to see who else can make it through the weekend unscathed.
Here's a look at my picks for today's 10 biggest games.
Alabama Crimson Tide at Auburn Tigers
1 of 10Prediction: Alabama 28, Auburn 16
All week, Nick Saban has probably been reminding his Alabama players about last year's second-half collapse against Auburn.
Trent Richardson, Mark Barron, Dont'a Hightower and Courtney Upshaw will all be looking for redemption when they go up against the Tigers today and it doesn't appear like it will be hard for them to find it.
Auburn doesn't look like it has the offensive firepower to keep up with the Tide this year.
Virginia Tech Hokies at Virginia Cavaliers
2 of 10Prediction: Virginia Tech 40, Virginia 21
Logan Thomas and David Wilson have turned into quite a dangerous offensive duo, and it looks like both of them have the maturity to handle a big make-or-break game against Virginia, which will decide the ACC Coastal division.
Mike London is doing some great things with the Cavs, but London doesn't have his team at the point where it can compete with a well-coached, consistently successful contender like the Hokies.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Stanford Cardinal
3 of 10Prediction: Stanford 35, Notre Dame 24
Andrew Luck's dream season hasn't gone exactly as planned, as Luck likely won't be playing in the Pac-12 championship game after a loss to Oregon. But the Cardinal can still make a statement today by beating a Notre Dame team that has won four straight games.
Luck had one of the worst games of his 2010 season against the Irish last year and he'll be looking to make up for that poor showing with a big performance this year.
Iowa State Cyclones at Oklahoma Sooners
4 of 10Prediction: Oklahoma 49, Iowa State 23
Iowa State better not be celebrating that upset win over Oklahoma State for too long, because the Cyclones will have another tough test today when they head to Norman to face an Oklahoma team that will be ornery after getting picked off by Baylor last week.
The Sooners will be looking to send a message to Oklahoma State before the big Bedlam matchup on Dec. 3, and Iowa State is the perfect whipping boy.
Oregon State Beavers at Oregon Ducks
5 of 10Prediction: Oregon 56, Oregon State 30
We know UCLA will be in the Pac-12's first ever conference championship game, but who will the Bruins play?
Well, if Oregon shows up to the stadium today, the Ducks are likely going to be the North representatives, as it's hard to see Oregon State making this much of a game today.
Clemson Tigers at South Carolina Gamecocks
6 of 10Prediction: Clemson 31, South Carolina 16
When Clemson actually shows up to a game, the Tigers are one of the most dangerous teams in the country, but as we've seen on road trips to Georgia Tech and North Carolina State, sometimes Clemson simply mails it in.
The Tigers know the importance of today's game against South Carolina, though, and Tajh Boyd, Sammy Watkins and the rest of the Clemson crew may be just too hard to keep up with for the Marcus Lattimore-less Gamecocks.
Georgia at Georgia Tech
7 of 10Prediction: Georgia 36, Georgia Tech 33
Georgia has absolutely nothing riding on this game, since the Bulldogs have already clinched a berth in the SEC championship game, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they'll simply sleepwalk through this game.
After starting off 0-2, Georgia has been on a roll, reeling off nine straight wins, and the Bulldogs will definitely be looking to put a little scare in LSU with another win today.
Ohio State Buckeyes at Michigan Wolverines
8 of 10Prediction: Michigan 38, Ohio State 24
Ohio State dominated this rivalry during the Jim Tressel era, but with Luke Fickell and Brady Hoke now running the respective shows, the power balance has begun to start tilting back into Michigan's favor.
You have to wonder if the Buckeyes will be fully focused on the field on Saturday, as the Urban Meyer rumors continue to swirl around the Internet.
Penn State Nittany Lions at Wisconsin Badgers
9 of 10Prediction: Wisconsin 24, Penn State 17
Penn State got its first post-scandal win last weekend when the Nittany Lions took down Ohio state, but interim head coach Tom Bradley will need a little magic if he hopes to win his second consecutive tough Big Ten road game.
This game will decide which team represents the Leaders division against Michigan State in the conference's first ever championship game, and you can bet that Russell Wilson, Montee Ball and the rest of the Badgers will be hoping for another shot at the Spartans.
Florida State at Florida
10 of 10Prediction: Florida State 23, Florida 17
Florida State has become a forgotten team this season after dropping out of the top ten earlier in the year, but the Seminoles are still playing some of the best defense in college football.
If QB E.J. Manuel doesn't get overwhelmed by the Swamp, Florida State should be able to take advantage of a Florida team that has been uncharacteristically mediocre this season.
