Ohio State vs. Michigan: Buckeyes No Match for Wolverines Balanced Attack
This Michigan-Ohio State annual game is one of the best traditions in college football. These two schools have had some classic games in their history, with Ohio State dominating the rivalry in recent years. However, this year, Michigan will crush their blood rivals this year.
Ohio State has done a great job this year with what they were dealt with after the NCAA scandal that ripped their team apart. This Buckeyes team could have folded going 4-8 this year, and no one would have faulted them. However, they have fought hard to go 6-5 through 11 games this year.
It hasn’t been pretty, as the offense has been bad this year. Their running game has salvaged what would be one of the worst offenses in college football. As the Buckeye passing game this year, or lack there of, ranks 118th in the NCAA.
However, it’s been the Buckeye’s defense that has kept them in a lot of ballgames this year. The defense comes into this year’s Michigan game ranked 14th in allowed points per game.
All of these stats are good, and it will keep this year’s game against Michigan close, for about three quarters. Because this year’s Michigan team has put together a very special season with a balanced attack.
This year’s Wolverines team has that special combination of a great offense with a very good defense. If the defense is not on in a week, allowing 28 or more points, the offense is good enough to bail them out with a huge performance.
If the offense is struggling and needs picked up from the defense, they can lean on the defense keeping them in the game. In recent years, the defense has been Michigan’s weak point. However, this year, the Wolverines are only giving up 15 points per game.
This year at home, the Michigan fans do not have to worry about Ohio State coming in and steamrolling their overmatched Wolverines. Instead this year, Michigan is the team that's the more talented club on paper.
The Michigan fans can expect to see a good day from Denard Robinson as he will have over 300 yards total with four touchdowns. While the real stars of tomorrow’s Michigan vs. Ohio State game will be the 11 starters on the Michigan defense.
They have a great chance at either shutting out the Buckeyes or keeping them under seven points.
