Arkansas vs. LSU Video: Watch Ark Alonzo Highsmith Return Unbelievable Fumble
Wait. Wasn't LSU supposed to be the team delivering all the punishing blows?
Arkansas looked hopeful to flip the script that had been written all week, pitting the LSU Tigers as the guaranteed winners.
The first half started off with a bang for Arkansas, as they were the ones to deliver hard hits and stout defense. One play that epitomized the early woes of LSU came on a Michael Ford carry with 12 minutes to go in the second quarter.
Ford took the pitch to the right, where he was met by Arkansas defender Tramain Thomas. Thomas unleashed the dogs of hell, along with a tremendous amount of other things that are bad in one hellacious hit.
The ball had nowhere to go as the train pummeled it loose. With Ford playing crash test dummy, the ball fle through the air until it found the hands of Ark Alonzo Highsmith.
Highsmith then took the ball 47 yards for a touchdown. While the game was still young at that point, all the momentum was on Arkansas' side. There is hardly a bigger play, as Ford lay in pain from the hit and humiliation on the field and Highsmith running the ball the other way.
There are those rare moments in sports where you jump from your seat and state in plain English, "ohhhhhhh." This would be one of those plays.
From the bone-crunching sound that took place as Ford coughed up the ball to the tackles gods to the run for six, there was nothing you couldn't find ridiculously awesome about this play.
Well, unless you are an LSU fan, of course.
