New England Patriots vs. Philadelphia Eagles: Spread Info, Line and Predictions

Kyle VassaloNov 25, 2011

The New England Patriots didn't let a two-game losing streak and naysayers claiming they weren't elite get them down. They came surging back, won two straight and are coming into their matchup against the Eagles red-hot.

The Eagles are still clinging to their playoff lives. Every time it seems as though they are out of it, they come away with a win like last week's victory against the Giants.

They're at home, but the Patriots' high-octane offense is going to be tough to contain with their banged-up secondary.

Let's take a look at how this game will shake out.

Where: Lincoln Financial Field (Philadelphia, PA)

When: Sunday, November 27th at 4:15 PM ET

Watch: CBS

Betting Line: Patriots -3.5, According to SportsBook.com

Go with the Pats. The Eagles are hit-or-miss when they are completely healthy. The fact that they have key superstars banged up on either side of the ball makes them sitting ducks for Tom Brady and the Patriots.

Betting Over/Under: 50, According to SportsBook.com

Take the under. The Patriots are back to scoring over 30 points when they take the field, but the Eagles offense is far less productive. They've only scored over 25 points once this season and even though the Patriots defense is awful, they can't be expected to deliver.

Fantasy Big Plays

Wes Welker

As if you needed another reason to feel confident in starting Wes Welker, right? The problem with the Eagles secondary at the start of the season was that they had too many No. 1 corners. With Nnamdi Asomugha's status up in the air after being carted off the practice field and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie hurt as well, Welker is going to pick their secondary apart this week.

Tom Brady

Brady has over 3,000 yards already this season and he's going to torch the Eagles secondary. With the slew of options at his disposal against a number of Philly backups, look for the Pats' second-ranked passing game to explode after a relatively quiet week last week.

LeSean McCoy

Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson are both going to be less than 100 percent even if they do get on the field. The Patriots have the worst pass defense in the NFL and on top of the yards LeSean McCoy is going to rack up on the ground, he's going to torch them in the passing game.

Key to New England Win

Be aggressive on offense. The Patriots have an elite quarterback and even though their defense is downright embarrassing, the Eagles have proven that they can't compete in a shootout.

The Eagles no longer have an explosive offense that teams fear and with key playmakers hurt, they don't have a shot at keeping up with New England if Brady gets going.

Key to Philadelphia Win

Feed LeSean McCoy. Whether catching the ball out of the backfield or carrying it on the ground, McCoy has to get over 25 touches for the Eagles to have a shot.

He's had 20 carries or more in four games this season and has over 100 yards rushing in all of them. He has to take over this game to give the Eagles a shot.

Prediction: New England 31 Philadelphia 17
