Iron Bowl 2011: Trent Richardson Will Prove He's Heisman Worthy by Waxing Auburn

Kyle VassaloNov 25, 2011

With Brandon Weeden, Kellen Moore and Andrew Luck all sustaining late losses, the Heisman race has been blown wide open. Trent Richardson will slam the door shut by plowing through Auburn's defense en route to a blowout win in the Iron Bowl.

Richardson's 1,380 rushing yards and 22 total touchdowns are impressive, but there are a number of other talented Heisman candidates in the mix who many voters find more worthy at this point.

Richardson faces an Auburn defense that gave up 132 yards to Isaiah Crowell two weeks ago against Georgia and an insane 119 yards against Jeremiaha Gates when they took on Samford last week.

He could easily break for over 150 yards on the ground, and given the attention this rivalry game draws, a monster day to close out the season would be the perfect way to end the season and prove to voters that he truly is the best player in college football.

There is no way Auburn is going to be able to contain Richardson. He's seen defenses far better than the one the Tigers are going to put forth this weekend and he hasn't been held to less than 100 all-purpose yards once in his last 10 outings.

Auburn has no chance in this game and their inability to even slow down Richardson will be be a huge reason why.

Alabama has given Richardson over 30 carries in his last two games and it's clear they are trying to bring another Heisman to the university.

This will be Richardson's shining moment and after he terrorizes Auburn, voters will have no reservations about writing down his name.
