WWE Survivor Series 2011: Is NYC the Best Place for Wrestling Fan Excitement?

Giulio RomanoNov 25, 2011

Happy Thanksgiving y'all!

The holiday and its traditional pay-per-view show are behind us now, and it is time to look forward to the new year.

We had a great event this past Sunday, and it was directly from Madison Square Garden in good old New York City.

I don't know about you, but the fans there are amazing and put a little more "oomph!" in the show itself. It is wonderful to see the crowd come alive like this, especially in a time when PPV buys are getting lower and lower. I can understand why though, as they had The Rock in the building. That is worth the price of the ticket.

There is definitely no place like New York, and it certainly does overshadow most places, but calling it the best is disputable.

Let's take two other places in consideration: Montreal, Quebec and London, England.

Every single time WWE heads overseas to the O2 or Wembley, the people there are so excited that they make it seem like we were still in the high points of the Attitude era. To those who claim pro wrestling is a dead or dying art, I say: you are fools.

It may not be always booming, but if recent events are any indication of where it may be going, there seems to be good things on the way. Let's just imagine a combo of Cena heel turn/Jericho return/Punk WWE championship run and I'd say that is pretty much golden.

Let's get back to America for a second. Montreal is another wonderful place to support and watch WWE. We have a long history with them, and if you take the time to watch a Canadiens game, you will notice how crazy we can be here.

French-Canadians are quite different from their English cousins for this simple reason: we are French. Not known for being the best warriors, we are passionate and lovers. We get taxed a lot for our advantages, so believe me when I say: If I am to pay an obscene amount of money for a show or something, you can bet I will tear the roof off this place.

London has the Olympics coming next summer, and they should be the best ones yet. So much money will be invested there and I cannot wait to see the opening ceremony.

So, is NYC the best after all? The answer is: YES!

It's New York. It's big, it's grand and it does things with style mes petits.

Call it the cement capital of the universe, I don't care—no one beats Noo Yohkers at putting up awesome shows. That's why everyone wants to go there time after time. WWE, Madonna, U2...doesn't matter! Tout le monde wants a piece of the Big Apple.

There will come a time when WrestleMania 30 happens and, if all goes as planned, it should be in New York City. Can you even imagine the things we will see? Who will host? What will be the main event that night?

I only have one wish: to have The Undertaker fight one more time, even if it meant his not being around for the next two events.

The big 20-0 should happen at that precise moment—22-0 will be good too, who am I kidding here?

Los Angeles is for people who sleep. Montreal and London, baby you can keep.

I absolutely love New York.
