James Starks Injury: Packers RB Will Play but Won't Put Up Fantasy Points

Alex KayNov 24, 2011

James Starks has been cleared to play today and will be getting some touches behind Ryan Grant like usual.

ESPN reported that Starks credited his bowed legs for preventing any serious injury and he has recovered remarkably quickly after leaving this past Sunday’s game with knee and ankle injuries.

I still think that you sit him on your fantasy bench this week despite the fact that he is healthy. That isn’t the kind of production you want out a starting RB unless you are in an incredibly deep league.

Starks hasn’t been a solid option for quite some time now. He had a full workload in Week 10 against the Vikings but produced only 63 yards on 13 carries with an additional three receptions for 11 yards. He failed to score a touchdown and only has one on the entire year.

The Packers simply aren’t a running team with Aaron Rodgers playing out of his mind. They are able to beat their opponents into submission by using a passing game that simply can’t be contained.

Why would they bother handing the ball off to a mediocre running back, especially today when they get to play in a dome?

A solid option to replace him would be the man who will be carrying the ball for the Lions today.

Kevin Smith had an excellent game last week for the Lions and scored a ton of touchdowns and made the most of each and every touch.

Bottom line is, there are plenty of serviceable options to be found on waivers or your bench this week that need to be started over Starks because he’s not going to produce today.
