A.J. Green: Cincinnati Bengals WR Can Be One of the Most Electric Ever in NFL

Scott L. HutchinsonNov 23, 2011

The NFL's 2011 rookie class is already being considered one of the best in recent memory, but few rookies have shined as brightly as Cincinnati wide receiver A.J. Green.

Not only does Green have the potential to become one of the best wide receivers in the NFL today, he may have what it takes to become one of the best of all-time.

He's the No. 1 Man

A.J. Green seems to have a head start over other young wideouts because he is already the undisputed No. 1 target in Cincinnati's passing attack.

Despite his inexperience, Green has been able to make huge plays week after week for the Bengals, and that isn't going to change any time soon.

Just nine games into his NFL career, Green has already recorded 41 receptions for 635 yards and six touchdowns, and his numbers will only get better as he gains more NFL experience.

Versatility as a Pass Catcher

It has been Green's explosive downfield plays that have put him on the map this season, but he is much more than simply a deep-ball threat.

In addition to running crisp downfield routes, Green has also proven capable of running shorter crossing routes, blocking considerably well and even running the ball out of the backfield on rare occasions.

While it's unlikely that Cincinnati will ever employ him as a special teamer due to his value offensively, his speed and agility mirror that of a top-tier return man.

Simply put, Green can make plays from anywhere on the field, and that gives him the potential to become one of the most dangerous weapons in the game.

The Dalton-to-Green Connection

Even the best NFL receivers need a quality quarterback in order to succeed.

Luckily for Green, the Cincinnati Bengals have an awfully good one in rookie Andy Dalton.

Despite their youth, Dalton and Green have already developed into one of the NFL's most potent quarterback-wide receiver duos, and considering the fact that both are under 25 years of age, they should be able to keep things rolling for quite some time.

The Bengals will want to keep these two together for as long as they can.
