Urban Meyer to Ohio State Rumors: How Many Wins Will He Bring with Him in 2012?

It seems like every second, there is a new report claiming that Urban Meyer has accepted the new head coaching job at Ohio State. Meyer is once again denying any truth to these rumors.

"I have not been offered any job nor is there a deal in place," Meyer said in a statement. "I plan on spending Thanksgiving with my family and will not comment on this any further."

That doesn't mean that we will stop reporting on it though.

It's really hard to believe that Meyer will turn the offer down if one is presented to him. It's one of the top positions at a prestigious school and he would be returning home, as he was born in Ohio.

So, let's assume that these rumors are true and he does become the head coach of the Buckeyes in 2012. How will Ohio State do in his first season?

As you can see, that's the schedule above and it really doesn't appear too difficult. The Buckeyes start the year off with the first four games at home against subpar opponents and they shouldn't have much of a problem with them.

Then a trip to Michigan State will be a battle as usual and a game against the Cornhuskers is never an easy task. Traveling to Happy Valley is always tough to leave with a victory and a road game against the Badgers is no cakewalk, but Wisconsin has quite a few players leaving including quarterback Russell Wilson.

Getting the hated Michigan Wolverines at home is a treat as well.

If Urban Meyer ends up accepting the Ohio State job, he'll have a favorable schedule in his first season. He has his dual-threat quarterback in Braxton Miller who will be able to run his spread offense perfectly. His entire defense still has a year of eligibility as well. 

The offensive line will need to be replaced, but for the most part things are looking good for this team in 2012.

I'd say a 10-2 or 11-1 season isn't out of the question and a possible Big Ten title. A BCS bowl game isn't a bad start for the Buckeyes in Urban Meyer's first season.
