Week 12 Waiver Wire: Sleepers Who Won't Be Sleeping on Thanksgiving Weekend

Wes ODonnellNov 23, 2011

They say the tryptophan in turkey makes you sleepy.

On this holiday weekend in November, there is going to be plenty of turkey.

But there is also going to be a few sleepers this weekend, the kind that score points on the football field.

Here a few deep sleepers you can add if you're feeling crazy:

Jake Locker, QB, Titans

The No. 8 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft took the field last week and nearly led his Titans team to a comeback win. In the end it wasn't enough and while he wasn't very accurate with the football, he did make plays.

Locker could be thrust back into action this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Starting quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is dealing with an injury, and it wouldn't be so bad to see what Locker can do regardless. The Titans are still in the hunt for the AFC South, but if Hasselbeck can't go Locker could impress this holiday weekend.

Harry Douglas, WR, Falcons

Even in Julio Jones is back on the field this week, the Falcons are taking on the Minnesota Vikings. This means running the football will be an issue, but passing won't.

The Falcons have a great matchup, especially for Douglas as the No. 3, against the Vikes.

Douglas is an up-and-down performer, but has the potential to put up points in this matchup.

Da'Rel Scott, RB, Giants

Ahmad Bradshaw is not expected to be back in the lineup for the Giants on Monday night. That means Brandon Jacobs and Da'Rel Scott are the top two backs for Big Blue.

Scott, a rookie, has started to see some action and will be a better option out of the backfield than "Stonehands" Jacobs.

The rookie from Maryland also has ridiculous speed. Should he find some open space to run, it could result in some big yardage and possibly a touchdown.

The Giants cannot continue to force-feed the ball to Jacobs when he isn't producing.
