Week 12 Waiver Wire: Vince Young and Others to Keep and Eye on

Chris TrapassoNov 22, 2011

We aren't sure of Michael Vick's status for the Philadelphia Eagles' Week 12 matchup with the New England Patriots, but there is certainly a chance their $100 million man will be held out another week. Monitor his process during the week, because if he can't go again, Young is a tremendous pick-up and will start against one of the worst secondaries in football. Although he tossed three interceptions last week against the Giants, Young was calm in the fourth quarter and he always poses a threat as a runner.

According to this article in The Tennessean, Titans' quarterback Matt Hasselbeck is going to start in Week 12 against the Buccaneers at home. However, the article states that he is going to take it easy on his injured throwing arm this week, so there's a chance they give him the week to rest, especially with how Jake Locker played against the Falcons.

Like Vick, if Hasselbeck doesn't progress during the week, Locker is another intelligent pick-up. He tossed two touchdowns and threw for 140 yards on nine completions. The Buccaneers don't have a stingy secondary, so Locker could be in for a big game in his first NFL start in front of the Tennessee crowd.

If you're looking for a pass catcher, keep tabs on Jerome Simpson. He filled in wonderfully for an injured A.J. Green against the Ravens, catching eight passes for 152 yards. Green's status is still up in the air for Week 12 against the Browns, so if he's held out once again, Simpson will retain his new spot as the team's No. 1 receiving option.

Cleveland has a very good defensive backfield and he will likely be shadowed by Joe Haden, but Simpson is unquestionably a risky, boom-or-bust option.
