Texas vs. Texas A&M: Aggies Will Knock Longhorns out of BCS Rankings for Good

I’m sick of the overrated Texas Longhorns hanging out in the BCS rankings.

So what if they are No. 25 and barely hanging in there?

It’s ridiculous that they even are ranked and proves that reputation (cough, Notre Dame, cough) and crazy computer calculations often trump what we see on the field.

This stupid fallacy ends on Thanksgiving when the Texas A&M Aggies beat up on the Longhorns and send them out of the BCS Top 25 for good.

This rivalry game is traditionally one of the best in the nation and one of the oldest as well. Unfortunately it will be the last time the two square off for quite some time.

A&M is jumping ship from the Big 12 and over to the SEC, but wanted to continue their yearly matchup with the Longhorns. Texas told them they are booked solid thru 2018, so they won’t meet until after that.

Since this will be the last game for a while, both teams are going to leave it all on the field. I think A&M is the better program and will come out on top.

When they do, and considering they are unranked, there is absolutely no way Texas can stay in the Top 25.

This loss usually would be good enough to finish them off, since it’s traditionally the last game of the season, but this year Texas has scheduled Baylor on Dec. 3 to close their campaign out.

Baylor is currently ranked No. 18 and is a respected team, with Robert Griffin III leading them.

But the Bears are also quite good, and certainly won’t lose to this overrated Texas squad either.

That means unless Texas plays in a bowl game they don’t deserve to be in, which isn’t impossible seeing how ridiculous their rankings have been this season, we won’t see them in the Top 25 this year.

And that is the way it should be.
